Something is definitely wrong here... - Page 3636

Yep, just got back from 3 daze in Houston.

Only new toy is a new desktop build. Waiting a while longer to check out the m15x, since I had a snafu with the ordering department when I ordered one on Day One.

I read about how they just up and canceled your order. It might be good in the long run anyways with prices usually going down, bugs being worked out, and new tech coming out.

Hope you had fun in the great state of Texas...Houston is a bit more fun than Lubbock.

I think my computer is about to die.... It was a good 3 year run. It took alot of punishment. Through overclocking, multiple benchmarking runs and crysis

I think it just needs cleaned out and some distilled water added to the cooler, but I'm sick and don't feel like working on it.

Evening everyone.

Hows it going Plain?

I got my monitor back from RMA, started playing some COD4 and it would lock up the computer. I'd restart and play some more, now it's blue screening. Run chkdsk, it fixes quite a few errors and everything is ok. Get into the desktop and it locks up on COD4 again, well now it's not loading windows, it will ask for safe mode and all that, but it just restarts. If I use safe mode it gets to the file "giveio.sys" hangs and restarts. So I can't get into the windows loading screen anymore.

I've tried removing all my usb devices, I'll just go into the recovery console or something.

Hi Shazz.

Hi moidock.

Well, got the Hughesnet sat hooked up. Pretty much sucks. Didn't realize they have the "Fair Access Policy" which limits your speeds once you've downloaded a certain amount. Means if you download one TV show from iTunes, you are speed reduced for the next 24 hours. A joke. Have 30 days to cancel, so need to find some other option.

(Never thought I'd say "I miss Comcast" !)

Hey Aliens, hope everybody's having a good weekend so far.

Got the new build at 4.3Ghz, but it wasn't stable in Prime 95. Might have to bump a few voltages, but I have time to work with that. New BIOS really helped out.

I sense a lurker round these parts.

I confess. I did it. It's all my fault. Now ... let's all just get along

(actually have no idea what I'm talking about, since I've been out of pocket for a couple of days).

Hey y'all (there's that Texas influence)
Oh, Shazza will throw a y'all out there in a blink of an eye... We have made her an honorary Houstonian even though they turned up their noses to the Space/Bayou City and chose Phoenix instead for their new 'Hometown'.

Thanx for the linx on the ALX Crossfire review Steve@NBF. It has an Asus X38 board doesn't it? Been patiently waiting for you to fire that bad boy up and start the review. Look forward to see how it performs.

@ Buck47, thanx on the confirmation that nForce 680i will play nice with a CPU E8400-8500, I did not know that! Is a BIOS update or anything required other than plugging it in on an existing 680i board? Not that it really matters for me, since I don't presently own a 680i board, but I am curious.

Wonder how long Alienware will stick with 680i before migrating to a new SLi chipset on the Area-51 7500? Only makes sense to me to wait for next Gen mainboard, waited this long (3 years since I received the last Alienware machine)...now that's too long.

Steak 'N' Taters on the menu for tonite...starvin' like Marvin all down up in here!

...and Howdy Doody all you Alienheads you! Who dat lurker be Speedde423? I'll PM da bassid and give 'em a piece of my mind!

Oh man, y'all have got me hankerin for a new system. All that review talk and new rigs just making the urge stronger. Just waitin for that interview result, then I may be lookin up y'all for ideas and maybe joinin the alien family if it's good news!
I know dats rite Speedde423. I have a feeling you would be very happy with an Alienware machine!

I've been sitting on a company PC loan check for a month now, and the HR dept is starting to press me on why I haven't cashed it or shown proof of purchase. I originally put in for it to complete the Predator upgrade and buy a notebook for my son for his Birthday....but that was all done fairly painlessly on overtime.

Can't believe I haven't cashed and gone to the casino yet! I hope Alienware migrates to a new chipset for the Area-51 7500 before rent comes around again!!!

I gotta admit my knowledge of new computer systems has become rather dated. Just haven't had enough money so I haven't kept up on the new stuff since I'll want to get it if I do. Just hopin that situation goes to changin soon!

I was saying this last year that I was going to build myself a desktop machine come spring/early summer time. Maybe I'll actually pony up and do it this year. There sure are a lot of nice looking deals out there for bargain CPU's and GPU's. This time last year I would have had to settle for a pretty darn expensive 8800 GTS 640mb however now we have the very affordable and extremely butt kickin' 8800GT 512mb.

Oh almost forgot, Hello everyone. Been a while once again since I've been either busy working out in the cold or dealing with a pretty nasty cold/flu symptom for the past week.

Also want to add that I'm moving back in with my parents come the 1st of March. I feel a bit odd asking to do so but I need to be able to save up for school and it is just too hard trying to work full time just to pay rent and bills and then try to go to school at the same time. My parents are really supportive of this decision and in fact they wish they could help me out more. However with my mother's back problems leaving her unable to work and collecting early social security it is up to me to make sure I get a decent College Education. Once I'm moved back in with my parents I'll have a lot more free time to spend here on the forums. See you around Aliens.
