Well, you deal with what you have to deal with...

To be honest, I still bitch about calculus classes, and it's been nearly 30 years now...

It's frustrating that a lot of people don't see what they have until it's almost lost. I hope Buck's dad realizes how lucky he is to have kids and grandkids and can get over whatever his issue is with Buck's decision.

As for the cancer, it's been three and a half years now, all my quarterly tests are coming back normal, so it looks like my cancer was caught in time. Another year and a half of clean blood tests and ct scans, and I'll be oficially "cured".
Well, I wish you the best with everything. You have done so much good for people here that you deserve happiness and fulfillment.

And besides, Your banter with The Commish has been entertaining to say the least.

Needless to say, the whole conversation went over like a fart in church.

Sorry for the rant guys - but it's eatin' me up.
tell him its not for you and you want quality of life more than a title and a miserable life you would have to lead for it.

and then tell him you know someone (me) who would be more than happy to start as a jr VP at a large pharmaceutical co if he really wants someone to take that type of job.

Good to see the support for others here.

I can only echo Hammerhead's comments about doing what is best for your family, Buck.

I guess, on a positive note, sometimes relationships with father and son do heal after time. My husband and his father didn't speak for years. Dad was not happy that his son chose the academic route and became a college professor (go figure!) ... they ultimately patched things up, which was a good thing. I occasionally have to remind "Dad" of this when he starts getting to judgmental about the next generation.

(didn't see this page when I posted before ... missed you guys)

I'm still laughing at Leroy having free run of the pharmaceuticals We would have some good posts, I'm sure

Mr. Shazz is now retired. He taught Chemistry. He now stays home, plays with his trains and other hobbies, while I trudge merrily to work everyday (in one of those jobs you think you aspire to... watch out what you wish for!).

In Florida for a quick weekend, then back to Space City.

Nitey, Nite, it's late on the East Coast.

Nitey nite shazza, don't forget Jesse Colin Young...or maybe WH & Gov't Mule doing Jesse's classic on 17 Jun 07.

When you can't find the lite that guides you thru a cloudy day
When the stars ain't shinin bright, and it feels like you've lost your way
When the candle lites of home burn so very far away
Well you got to let your Soul Shine
Just like my daddy used to say

He used to say, "Soul shine, oh it's better than sunshine
It's better than moonshine, damn sure better than the rain"

Hey now people don't mind, we all feel this way sometimes
Got to let your soul shine, shine till the break of day

I grew up thinking I had it made
Make it on my own, but life can take the strongest man, and make him feel so alone
Now some times I feel a cold wind blowin' through my achin' bone
I think back to what my daddy said
He said, "Boyd, there's darkness before the dawn"

Let your soul shine, It's better than sunshine
It better than moonshine, damn sure better than the rain
People don't mind, we all feel this way sometimes
Got to let your soul shine - shine till the break of day

Sometimes a man can feel this emptiness
Like a woman has robbed him of his very soul
A woman too, God knows, she can feel like this
And when your little world seems cold
You got to let your spirit take control

Let your soul shine on people!!!

One, two, three, four...

Half a mile from the county fair and the rain kept pouring down
Me and Billy standin there, silver half a crown
Hands are full of fishing rods and the tackle on our backs
We just stood there getting wet, our backs against the fence

Oh, the water...
Hope it don't rain all day

And It Stoned Me to my soul, stoned me just like jelly roll
And it stoned me

I said, "It stoned me to my soul...stoned me just like going home"
And it stoned me

Then the rain let up and the sun came up
And we were getting dry
Almost let a pick-up truck nearly pass us by
We jumped right in and the driver grinned
And he dropped us up the road
We looked at the swim and we jumped right in
Not to mention those fishing poles

Oh, the water...let it roll all over me

Stone me...

Well on the way back home we singing songs, our throats were getting dry
Then we saw the man from across the road with the sunshine in his eyes
Well he lived all alone in his own little home with a great big gallon jar
There were bottles too, one for me and you
And he said, "Hey! There you are"

Oh, the water get it myself from the mountain stream

One of my favorite Eagles tunes is "Can't Hide Your Hawaiian Eyes" third album wasn't it?
