i was helping prep some chairs to go into a site that was just being completed as well as supervising all the little finishing touches for the customers. they needed to have the stupid felt bits on the bottom of the feet replaced before being put on the new hardwood (gotta be nice to a floor that cost 30k) and that meant that the old bits needed to be removed.
here we encounter the problem, what should have been a fast job was not. it required the use of sharp tools to remove the old ones and in doing so i slipped, taking a (smaller though painful and bloody ) chunk out of the nail on my right thumb. the thing is that i was almost done and i figured i could tough it out to get the last chair done. however being distracted by the bleeding and pain i managed to slip again taking a (much larger) chunk of the nail off my left thumb.
the result of this is several lessons, never use sharp tools for things they are not designed for, and after one injury cease doing what caused it. the other result is that its gonna not heal fast and i had to buy extra bandaids as my right thumb has a habit of bleeding through them.
also i now can more accurately imagine what its like to have your finger nails pulled off as a form or torture, not recommended.
