I have not even seen a passport in 20 years but didn't they used to have you provide a picture that they stapled in? I hope they have gotten better.

Having just got my drivers license and starting with very little ID. It is only hard on the law abiding.

At least in my opinion much of what is done is more of a false sense of security.

Hi Larry! You are on a posting frenzy. Nice to see you about.

Not so much of a false sense of security, it is just not making any senses asking for a 2nd ID when someone is carrying a passport to fly out/in.

One swipe through the terminal and they have every single piece of information on the passport carrier in split seconds.

Ah, when I checked on getting mine earlier this year Bahamas was an exception. I see it's changed again.

Yup, got a RFID chip in mine. Haven't gotten to use it yet since the possible job that was the main reason to get one fell through.

It's on my list of plans. I can't go now either. But since getting a pilot's license is also on my plans I'm going to try and fly my own plane there.

That is very cool. You being a pilot. I knew a guy that restored old planes. Maybe you could get one that way.

I've flown in an old WW2 trainer, and it was amazingly fun. Open cockpit, so you could see all around you and feel the wind as you were going. I only have an hour logged flight, but I got a headset repaired that was given to me and a logbook, so I'm good to start once I get a real job.

Along with that I want to get my mechanics ratings for planes, so I could work on my own and maybe restore something similar to what I got that ride in.

I think he means job for lessons. But he is one hour ahead of me and has headset and logbook.

I honestly do have flying issues. More correctly I have crashing issues. And I know they are not reasonable but I still have them. Good thing I fly very little but when I do I do stress.

Hi dave! Welcome!

Hi dave! Welcome!
I don't think I could handle flying either.

Nah, I kinda looked into that once I found out the university had a professional flight program but decided against it. By the time you get finished with all the ratings you have to have, you're nearly $50K in debt with a starting pay rate of around $25K.

So I decided to stick with Aerospace Engineering. And just go for my private pilot after I get an engineering job. I've had the degree for the past 3 years, just haven't used it yet.

Hi dave! Welcome!
I was nervous when going on planes when I was younger, but after taking some of the Aero classes, and in particular the video of the stress testing till failure on the wings, I'm not anymore. I think now I've been in the small planes about as much as the big ones, and I much prefer the smaller because I can see what's going on around me and instruments and such.

(private planes) flying is fun. I am glad that I got the license when it was still 30-50 bucks an hour with instructor, depending on the plane. A twin costs quite a bit just to train on, let alone flying it. So I am staying put with single engine

I don't really see getting a twin engine plane. I haven't see that much advantage to them other than reassuring other people. And yeah, it's fun. There's nothing quite like looking 'up' and seeing the ground while in an open cockpit.
