Got 4 hours on a twin, just to learn how to "survive" when one engine takes the dump

See my avatar? Riverside Municipal Airport, CA - where I learned and got trained. Took my flying exam in Long Beach Airport though. It was a sweating fun 3 hours in the evening with the examiner by your side

Speaking of leaping tall buildings, I need to practice that Matrix move

I just passed a damn driving road test and I have been a professional driver for over 15 years. No way I could take the stress of a flight test even if I knew how to fly.

I got to fly a plane when I was 8 (for about 2 minutes) that was fun. But back then I liked roller coasters, not anymore.

That's basically what all the single engine training is too.

Aww, heck. A lot of it is the knowing of the 'rules of the road'. The flying part is easy to do. And you always know the plane is going to get back to the ground, what with pesky gravity and all. What can get a bit tricky is the getting back to the ground in a smooth manner and the "OH ****!!!" situations. But you do those so much in training you just react when the need arises.

Good evening, all. We had a nice steak dinner. It cost $1.00 because we had a gift card.

I had a plan do that over the grand canyon once. It scared the crap out of me. We were on a tour over it.

A bunch of pilots on here.

My grandfather told me how during his deployment he'd go on training rides just to go, and how on occasion they'd shut off the engine. Pilot would go tell him beforehand, and get him to scare one of his buddies awake.

But if you want to feel a bit more reassured about it, look up the Gimli Glider. Pilot in a 767 took the plane with no engines 12 miles until he set it down. No injuries to anyone in the plane.

Yes I do have 100% confidence that will get back to the ground. It is the manner in which it will that causes great anxiety.

I took a flight to Kirksville MO, one time. The plane had a flat tire on landing one time. That was also a scary flight.

This is true with my instructor even told me before this ever happened - gliding is the best way to learn about the physics of flying ... altitude, wind direction ... you and (almost) the nature alone

We just need to look at WWII - (transport) gliders were being used to carry troops deep into battle territories .. and quietly.

What about a Southwest plane with fire on the wheel/tire at landing just a while back? I have no faith in the Air Lines Industry at the moment with their cutting cost

Restaurants here are not big in gift cards. Many of them don't even take credit cards
