Used to work for a small company when large corporations were giving out Christmas bonus'. This guy could just make enough profit to keep on going. But he would pay us for 40 hours a week starting 5 Dec or so for the Holidaze until kids went back to school after the New Year...just had to cover emergency service. He would also hire the bar at Steak and Ale for a few hours between Christmas and New Years. I loved that...just when you get bored, go out and show some skillz make a dollar or two for the company and then get together for a nite of fun. Ah the Ol' Daze...

The company I'm working for now does do a pretty good crawdad/open bar thang in Apr each year. But that's really for the customers, though employees are encouraged to attend...just don't start fights in the parking lot. ;-)

They also do do a pretty good annual picnic for employees and family. $25 gift certificate for the grocery store @ Thanksgiving and a swanky dinner party for employees and family for Christmas. They do a drawing that nite for about fifty or so gifts ranging from large LCD TVs to flash drives.

I don't know what I'm bitching about, 'cept I'd rather have a thousand or two in my pocket and the Crawfish Festival or just all Dec and 1st week in Jan off paid.

it might seem that way - but it's not lol

If i finish a job in a timely manor i get to enjoy the rest of the scheduled time for the job as time at home

But I travel 200+ days a year so I earn every pennie lol

1% raise and an extra 3 days of vacation this year - 37 days of vacation in total Now if they just give me some extra $ to spend on vacation

But then this is the 1st raise in 3 years, so I am happy. It is a sign that the company still survives.
