I did have to look for a few programs and I think a couple drivers on Ubuntu, but I don't think I did anything special for Mint, it just found everything itself.
Well not only just system drivers, bu drivers for programs and hardware i want to connect to my notebook. I'm pretty confident that anything I want to use will be available for windows, just not forms of linux. I'm willing to try eventually.

Steve, you could try something like VM Ware server to run ubuntu until you get a feel for how it works. VM Ware Server is free (after free account registration) and you can create as many different virtual systems as you want.

For some stuff Wine works as an emulator, but hardware wise I haven't found anything that doesn't have at least some support in Linux. That said, most of the stuff I have is pretty generic.

I think you can install ubuntu on top of windows as well. Not sure exactly how that worked.

Yes you can. It's called Wubi and it will install Ubuntu on your windows system by using an executable file. It's actually a pretty cool setup.

When I get sore, I just deal with it.

Had to go over to Hickam AFB today and get my paperwork filled out so I can leave for Mississippi. I've just about got it completed.

Yes, my days of 'rubbing it in' are soon to be over.

I doubt it very much, but this time around you gonna rub your own in and so we'd say "welcome to the club?"
