Could someone please suggest a good memory (1gb stick) for inspiron 6000 and a recommended web site. also for desktop 9300 (1gb stick) if possible

Wow, I was unaware of the existence of the 6800. 6000 was the latest last I heard. What are the specs on that beast.

Thanks for all the reply above and sorry! it should have been "Inspiron 6000". my first problem is buying those ram and 2nd is installing. anyone knows about any step by step of how to install memory on the 6000? Right now i've 1gb installed from dell. how much will I be able to upgrade?

You can have up to 2x1gig sticks. You can get 533mhz but it will auto cut it to 400mhz, some of the best bang for the buck RAM right now is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820144183

Also depending on your processor model, there is an easy pin mod that will bump your bus from 400mhz to 533, not only increasing your processor performance by leaps and bounds, but also lets you fully utilize the 533 RAM if you do get it.

newegg has some great deals on memory. got some kingston there a little while ago and is running great. love newegg.
