There we go, finally got a call back. The man must be hella busy, he said he alone sold like 30 of those cards today and the rest of his team over 150, and they're going to be working on it over the weekend as well. Placed my order, said it should be shipped Tuesday. Great work Mark, promotion all the way
post #63 of 306
I just ordered one myself..

Mark is a very smart salesperson and great coversationalist. Try getting that from dumb dumbs overseas!

Ok guys, it's REAL! I (well we) ordered our GO 7800, a Gig of Memory and the kick-butt 2405FPW from the One n Only MARK! I've been an eaves-dropper on the forum, but not a member til now. We joined cuz we so we could add our two-cents...and this guy ROCKS, so we're official!
This guy has his act down TIGHT! He used our service tags to check the notebooks out and found that TwEEK's was ready for the card, but mine (PEak's) need memory to better handle the coming onslaught of gaming. He explained it like a PRO. We even small talked a bit. We made a new friend.
He was SO thankful for us...US being the "gang" as he called us from the net. He knew about the Forum and a couple other gamer sites that have posted his direct extension, phone number and e-mail address. He is really humbled by it...you can tell!
During the small talk, we learned this guy doesn't do just gamer stuff...he does TV's, Camera's, Monitors (obviously huh?), Internal Parts, Printers, Software and WoW the list goes on! He did keep telling us about his 'crew' there at the office. He must be the leader of the geeks there, cuz it took FOREVER to get thru to him. (If he's not the leader, HE SHOULD BE) and he said, "All of us are here to help you whenever we can." Well that's true I guess...but he's the only one who ever made spending Major Coin fun! I hope all of his crew has the same outlook as he does.
For those of you wanting a lady's opinion...here it is: AMAZING! I'll spend my money with him from now on...and nothing personal to the rest of his crew...but BABY YOU ROCK and deserve the fan-fair and praise! You made the difference. And the WORLD should know about it.
I told him I'd post..and he said, "Thank you...but that's not asked for nor necessary." TOO LATE...I hope you get to read this yourself! I hope everyone else does too...
P.S. HE SAID THANK YOU TO ALL OF US FOR THE CONTINUED PATRONAGE and SUPPORT. His WHOLE CREW is there to help us out! Like 30 people or so! (Talk about a GREAT GUY...he's sharing the fame!!)
He only works Monday thru Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm PST in Roseburg, Oregon...no weekends...so if you want his "personal professional and fun tough"...it's worth the wait guys! Let’s give him ALL the business he deserves!! His info:
Mark Lenning E&A Sales and Consulting: 1-800-289-3355 message starts, press #1..then 9570351
mark_lenning@dell.com (I'd wait for him personally...take no chances on getting a dud!)

Ok, so I havn't read every post yet, but someone has actually gotten this card to work now? SOrry if that sounded dumb, havn't been to the boards for few weeks.
As far as i have read here, someone has installed it in a XPS Gen2 and it worked fine. But no one has tried it in a i9300 yet.

You guys know that there's no Mark, right? This is just a scam to gather credit card numbers...

...if it's not such a scam, it should be.

Either I got a rep in a different department or they have raised the price, I placed the order today and here is what it lists:

11320-4552256MB NVIDIA GEFORCE 7800 U,XPSGEN2,CUST

*Sales Tax: $0.00

Shipping and/or Handling: $2.20

Product Sub Total : $424.99
Total Order Amount: $427.19

11983-2678DHS GRAPHICS CARD INSTALL, BSC

*Sales Tax: $0.00

Shipping and/or Handling: $0.00

Product Sub Total : $84.16
Total Order Amount: $84.16

Not only that but the first rep placed an order for the desktop card for $375 and then when i called back to modify/cancel the order the second rep argued with me about how it would still work because it is a PCI Express card and it has 256MB of RAM.
Put it this way, at least you don't have to pay sales tax. Mine cost almost as much as yours just because I happen to live in the same state as their headquarters
post #72 of 306
Yeah you've got a point there.

What I can't figure out is why the installation is more expensive?

Mine was supposed to ship today:

Dear Valued Customer,
We have reviewed your order. Although we had anticipated being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay with your order XX and will not be able to ship this order and any associated orders until on or before 11-16-2005.
Does anyone know if more of these cards will be available later? 'Cuz I don't want to upgrade right now, but I'd like to know that they'll be available later when I do decide to take the plunge.
I got the delay notification too :-(

On the plus side, mine ended up being, including installation like $480. If you look at the $509 price on dell's site, it is pretty close to using a $35 off 300 E&A coupon ($509-35 = $474 not incl tax/ shipping). Using Fatwallet + DPA gets you something like 5-6% back so that would be an additional $25 or so off bringing the total cost down to $449 before tax and shipping. If anyone has concession coupons, they can use them here which Mark was not willing to do for me.

I think it may be time to cancel the Mark orders and buy from the site with coupons.

Well I found out the price was higher because I wasn't offered the $60 off $500 on Electronics and Accessories. I called back in today and was able to re-order at the discounted price ($511) using Dell's 24 hour sale compensation (so those of you still looking to get in on this CALL BEFORE TONIGHT) plus the $60 discount. Tell them you saw the card was on sale yesterday but weren't able to put in an order and then say you heard there is a $60 discount available off of $500 worth of E&A items. The part number again is XPSG2GU. Good Luck!
I've noticed the part numbers are different here in Canada. I ordered mine yesterday from Dell Canada and the rep said they definitely had them in stock but were shipping from the US. Part number was 320-4529. Looks like the US part number is 320-4552.

No delay notification yet, but not available in Order Status either.

Thread Starter
If you have placed a order in the us for the 7800 Go GTX from mark don't cancel and reorder there is a lead time but you will receive your card and at the price you were quoated. If you havent you can still order it from him. Also I wanted to mention theese cards are very much in demand and I was informed if you dont have a XPS Gen 2 service tag the 7800 will not be shiped maybe one or 2 got by but not no more .I am just passing this information on Dell is on top of this situation and yes your orders will be going into production and you will receive it it does have a lead time of 7 to 10 days and theese cards like i said are in very much demand and there is a lead time but I repeate you will receive your order if you do cancel your order with mark you will be set back and it will cost more.

I finally got a callback today from one of Mark's "associates" or mentors or fellow salesman or whatever they are.

Quoted price was $539 USD - $449 for the card and $89.00 for the installation. This is higher than what has been posted here but much lower than the website price of $599. I haggled for a while but was told the demand was so huge they weren't able to move on the price - however, I was told that when I get the card if I do decide to install it myself I can get the $89.00 installation refunded. The card comes with installation instructions and it apparently doesn't void your warranty to do it yourself, so as I have already taken all this apart once (did the Arctic Silver application to the CPU and GPU) I suspect I won't have any trouble with the upgrade.

Kind of sucks about the price but with the demand the way it is I can hardly blame them, and $449 is still pretty cheap - a desktop 7800GTX goes for that or more.

Also, I was told - and confirmed - that mine would ship on the 17th; a new shipment of cards is coming in early next week.

Anyone else installing their own card? I probably wouldn't want to wait for the installer anyway
