This .wmv file has been giving me issues in regards to trying to save the video to hard drive. There is no save as option and getright doesnt do it.

Any ideas?

here is this video:

Tried it and failed too... is there a third party media player that you can associate with the file type? It might allow you to save.

Well, I ended up using a free util from www.wmrecorder.com

It worked, even though they claim the free version will only do 2 mins worth of video.

Basically, it just records any video that is currently playing on your computer.

That could be useful. Book marked!

This WMV is a fake - it's actually a WSX (I think). WSX is a Windows Media Player continuously streaming format not designed to be "saveable" (all it really is, is a small file that links you to the online stream without downloading the stream in its entirety). It is not actually downloaded in full to your hard drive, per se, where a WMV is.

As you obviously know, there are ways around it (such as recording the video stream on the screen). Glad to see you found a solution.
