lol, let me fill everyone in on something. Not everyone knows what they're doing and things can get ugly REAL fast. For example, selling a laptop without an OS is a great option to have that I'm sure if we didn't offer it people would say they can get their own OS from their school much cheaper and think it's crazy to have to buy a laptop with an OS. As the rules go by Miscrosoft products, if you buy OEM software you get your support from whoever you bought the software from. This is great right? Everyone saves money and has another option! Wrong, people order the laptop without an OS and have no idea what they're doing. They call up tech support expecting to be walked through a full OS install even though it's in the manual. Now, it's totally within tech support right to tell them to refer to the manual to install the OS or told to try and reinstall the OS if it's a software issue tech call. Usually the software is either pirated or where they bought it offers no support so they're left mad and ready to make a quick decision of who they're going to direct their anger at.
Now let's apply this to a much bigger potential option... offering laptop shells as a separate purchase. People would be able to paint, etch, do watever they wanted and assemble themselves their laptop.
How many people would be in over their head?Almost everyone would. Take one of these systems apart down to the plain shell and you'll see what I mean.Who would they expect support from if they screwed something up?GuessWho would they be mad at if they screwed it up, ruined their laptop and Sager voided their manufacturer warranty?A few would be mad at themselves, but I bet most would be mad at their reseller and Sager.
The point is, it would hurt more people than it would help and cause a lot of problems.
