Problem reinstalling windows XP on tecra m3

Hi,
I just bought a tecra m3 and am trying to boot using a windows xp disc to format and put on windows again. However, after the "press any key to boot from cd" comes up, i then briefly see "setup is now inspecting your computers hardware configuration" then it hangs!

Is there possibly something im missing here? Every other computer ive used proceeds to loads drivers and go into the setup...

Ok, turns out that windows 2000 works from the off but not xp. to get xp working you need to first fdisk the hard drive so it is completely blank and then the XP disc seems to work.
