Wow, you still use IE? Mozilla Firebird all the way!

But seriously, IE is known for its ability to stop working for no apprent reason. If it dies, my usual reaction is smile, nod, and reinstall XP. Either that, or continue using Firebird and ignore it. That's my suggestion to you.

If you used spybot, it should have an "undo"

Which Spyware remover did you use? I work for an IT department and I am familiar with the problem. We use Spybot and AdAware together as neither is 100% perfect. Try AdAware it should clear your problems, make sure you do the updates first. You can get it at Download.com.

Dude it was the jv16. It is so easy to delete way too much with that program and then it is hard to get it all back. Always create a system restore point before using jv16, ALWAYS. I learned the hard way too. More than once. You might want to go to your windows disk or microsoft and just reinstall IE6. Usually when reinstalling over a previous installation you will get an option during setup to fix IE. Also on your windows restore disk you can choose to restore windows instead of completely reinstalling windows.

Are you able to explore documents n' files? If you can then it is still running off IE, as you probably know... So try to go to a website within the address bar of a folder...

Did you try method #2 from the above link ?

yes i could surf through windows explorer but you lose a lot of functionality that way.
and yes i did try that method. none of my efforts have worked.
the culprit here was an active x control that installed among other things:dyfuca/internet optimizer.
it hijacked my browser and when i removed a specific component using jv16 it was unable to be removed properly by spybot and adaware.
anyhoo.....formatting....

have you tryed to "roll back" XP to a past date?

START
PROGRAMS
ACCESSORIES
SYSTEM TOOLS
SYSTEM RECOVERY

then just pick a date before the anti virus software messed up your IE

and can someone who uses Mozzilla Firebird tell me why you use it over IE? I'm interested thanks!
