zx5190us Digital Media Reader problems

This is beginning to irritate me. I have a zx5190us HP laptop with the TI Ultramedia PCI1620 in it. The media reader will work fine under the factory windows install. However, if you install DirectX 9, the reader stops working, and I get the error "Driver not intended for this platform."

I know the hardware works. I am fairly sure it is a driver issue. I have tried every driver for the TI PCI1620 I can find, and it still does not work. I have resorted to using a USB SD reader.

Irritating...
