NEW VERSIONS

XPS Lights now includes an LCD Dimmer built into the app.

New app LCD Dimmer this is just the LCD Dimmer part of the app for users without XPS notebooks.

There are 2 components the one below that allows you to do special stuff with your lights, ranging from pulsing on and off, cycling colours, monitoring mouse movements or flashing when an email is on your server.

The second component is a WMP component that will flash lights to the music. It has 3 options.

Hope you all enjoy

Could I just request that anyne who downloads the app make a post in here so i can see how much interest is in the app so I know to keep developing it and keep it on my server.

Yes this is the No1 Tool I love it., Thank you for it. Btw is ther a possiblity that for circling colors you start with a specific one? If such thing would be included I could chain the circling colors. Starting with front speaker lights going to fan lights going to panel lights. That would be awesome.

Explain to me exactly what you require and when i get a spare moment I will implement it.

Ok, forgive me for my ignorance, I got the first component thing to work, but I can't get the WMP component to work. What all am I supposed to do to get it working once I download it?

Maybe you also could think about including the LCD Dimmer feature that is being discussed here: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=113313

(Since your already in to XPS DLL's)

I just tried turning your app off - been using it for months now - and without it running it just looked so wrong.
I have everything linked to mouse position with heartbeat.
Please keep on developing this - I've just downloaded the latest version.
Now I'm going to play with the network activety setting.

Any chance of getting you to write the wmp plugin to allow us to choose what colors we want to to flash? I know I asked this a long time ago, just thought I'd mention it again because it's the only thing that I would like different. If it's too much work I understand, I have no idea what it would take to code that.

Also could there be a button or some way to shut off all of the LED's with one click. Kind of like in quickset how you can link all of the LED controlls.

Thanks qualar!

I cant get the software to work. What is the best way to install this program?
Wow ok here would be my humble request:

If u use circling colors, it would be nice to be able to pick a starting color.
e.g.:

By that you would have the effect of "hunting light".

Panel lights would change and fan lights would like like former panel lights, and speaker lights like fan lights one round before and so on....

I hope u get a feeling for what I want to explain. I am not that well in english so.

[Panel lights][FanLights][Speaker Lights]
Colour 3 - Colour 2 - Colour 1 (Round 1)
Colour 4 - Colour 3 - Colour 2 (Round 2)
Colour 5 - Colour 4 - Colour 3 (Round 3)
...
Colour 1 - Colour (X-1) - Colour (X-2) (Last round)

Thanks for your effort.

Yea, that would be pretty cool to be able to pick the starting color like you said Nafets. I'm not sure how hard that would be to code though.

in the other thread I had a horrible time trying to get this software to work and no one seemed to understand why.

Then I did an update to the QUICKSET program from Dell's website, and it worked. I'm not sure if the update was truly necessary or if it just jarred a pointer loose, but, anyway it works now. I can't tell you version numbers or anything else because I don't remember, but, I recommend uninstalling and re-installing the newest Dell Quickset.

This is possible but fiddly, The reason is that the api doesnt not allow you to red what the current colour a LEd is. So you have to setup global variables to monitor this and keep them in sync with the colours. Im trying to avoid bloating the app out too much because it is meant to be running all the time so i dont want a performance hit. Hope you understand.

But as way of an apology i do have some new things for you all that i will be uploading hopefully tonight.

First a few bug fixes, things like reinstated the interface when turning the cycle colours off.

LCD Fader. This will fade you LCD after a specified period. I have also added a program except list. Where you can specify programs and if these programs are running the screen will not fade. Ideal for Media Player for example where you wouldnt want it dimming while watching a video.

Added the button mentioned on another post that will turn all LEDs of in ane click.

Also added Context menu to the taskbar icon. So now you can right click on the taskbar icon and instantly switch of and on all lights, or exit the app. Or just double click the icon to bring up the main interface.

Hope this is OK for you all
