Powerstrip settings for 1280x1024

I don't want to run 1280x1024 but I just had Lasik done and my *new* eyes are really hurting at 1600x1200, in fact I can't use this thing for longer than 45min max before I start getting headaches.

The problem is that at 1280x1024 the screen looks fuzzy and dull, is there any way to clear this up with Powerstrip?

try changing the font size and icon types in 1600x1200

there are some minor tweaks you can do in windows...I'll look it up and repost or hopefully someone else can chime in...but since it is not native resolution not much can be done...this is a problem with notebook screens in that they are designed for a certain resolution and anything outside that is going to give you this blurred/fuzzy appearance...hope this helped a little!

As if I was not blurry and fuzzy enough already, now I can't even type a simple paper on my lappy. This was simply the dumbest decesion I have ever made!

which? Buying the lappy or having the surgery?

I will live and die by my glasses. I just cannot see how I could sit there while someone pokes or whatever right in your eye!!!

This is a bit off topic, but how was the surgery and how much did your sight improve by? Do you mind telling me how much it cost? How long did it take? How does it feel right after surgery?

Triton (and all of us for that matter, me included),
In an effort to keep these forums on track, please put posts like that in a Private Message to the recipient.

Even though I myself am curious about the proceedure as I wear corrective lenses , we want to make sure these forums are as chock full of information as possible and can be easily navigated by someone seeking answers to questions.

Thanks for your continued efforts

Is it possible to move this Q&A into a thread of its own under "general"?

I would like to see the answers to questions asked.

Actually the best place to see it would be in the "Off Topic" portion of these forums at http://talknotebooks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9

We may or may not have our own section like this in the future but keep in mind, even though this is an Alienware forum, we are still part of a larger message board that offers all of the thread/posting capacities you are speaking off. Don't be shy, head out into the rest of these areas. There is a lot to learn and a lot more people to meet.

Ok, answers. First off thanks Xanthony for the suggestion on the larger font DPI, it works great! At least now I can get some work done again!

As for the surgery, I picked a world famous docter to do the procedure, so the cost was around $3500 for two eyes, the procedure was called Wavefront Lasik, which is a sort of custom tuned Lasik procedure.

My vision is now right between 20/10 and 20/15 more towards 20/10 yesterday at my appointment. The procedure was completely painless, but I did have a complication later the same day with part of the "flap" coming loose. That was quite painfull, but they fixed it right away and the pain stopped.

The procedure lasted 10 or so mins. And I could see better right away, and then really well about two hours later, and finally 20/15 about 72 hours later. But good enough to drive the entire time after the procedure.

The issue I have now is I am somewhat overcorrected at 20/10 and close up vision like my laptop gives me headaches and some nausea. According to the surgeon that will go away in a few weeks. I also have whats called "halos" at night while driving. They are distorted rings around bright lights like traffic lights and headlights. I am told that the "halos" may never go away.

So would I do it again? Nope contacts and glasses were not as big a hassle as I thought they were. Would I recommend it to someone else? Nope, it my personal estimation it's just not worth the risk, or the potential side-effects. Don't get me wrong I love my new vision, but I could have lived with me glasses and contacts just as easy. Sorry for the book.

Thank you for answering "all" questions posted.

Does powerstrip have other features such as brightness and color settings that help with your eyes? (Trying to keep this on topic... ) Maybe the banana will cheer them up and keep them off my back.

Yes, I was able to drop the contrast a bit so it's not so INTENSE. These screens are very versitile now that I have needed to mess with it.

LasIK

Thought about it for a while - and after doing all the r-search on the web and talking to folks I decided not to do it... Could not afford to have my close up vision any worse than it already is. Actually my close up is just fine - its those pesky objects beyond that are the problem...

Time - Thx for sharing your experience.

Thankfully I have another appoint with the OD tomorrow, I can see up close to well I think. It's like you have been reading a textbook for to long, kinda like eye-strain. But I get it after only short periods of time, frusterating problem for me.
