I have a Acer Travelmate 529tx, P3, 128MB Ram, 20GB HD.
It has been working fine for the last 6 months, however lately it has started to get really hot and the lappy just freezes(!). I have to remove battery and mains to reboot.
I reinstalled Win ME but still probs. I have tracked down the problem to one of the fans in the lappy.
I ran speedfan and it was freezing at about 64c. I manually turned on the fans and put all up 100%. This cools it down and you can feel that the air coming out is alot cooler. However, after about an hour the air gets hotter and the temp increases to 64c and above before freezing again. The fan seems to slow down of its own accord.
Does anyone know how I can get into the laptop to clean and check the fans, cpu and heatsink?
A step by step guide would be useful as the last lappy I took apart scared me!!!
