Time for a new Laptop?

Thread Starter
Hello all, I have been away from here far to long. So I am slightly out of touch as to what is going on in Sager/PCTorque land. I read thru some of the older posts but all these new acronyms leave me scratching my head.

Anywho, my question is "Is it time for me to upg to a new laptop?"

I have an 8790 3.4Ghz, 1GB mem, 1440x900 display, ATI 9700, 60GB 7200rpm drive. Also very important to me is the completely trouble free experience I have had with this laptop.

My reasons for contemplating this upgrade are

A) Resale - I assume since this laptop is still fairly current I can still get a decent resale value for it?

B) New Technology - DDR2, Newer Video cards, faster processors.

Should I put old bessy hear on the Ebay and upg to a 9880? Is there any new laptops on the horizon from sager that I should wait for? I saw something on PCtorque.com that days the AMD chips are coming and something about a clevo 900.

Just looking for opinions,

Thanks for any advice

Well, what do you use your laptop for? Gaming? internet? Your machine should still be pretty good for most things.

If you are looking for another desktop replacement, the 9880 cant be beat, right now, we will have to wait and see how the AMD version of it performs.

no, not yet. i would wait until january/feburary for dual core. also, dont expect too much money for this. pentium 4's arent very "in" these days.

Yeah, the prices they are going for are shocking considering the original price. Resale value is not on our side.
