Who should I buy an z70va refresh from?

I am in the market for z70va refresh but after the news that the latest batch a sizeable amount have problems with red ghosting, I'm not sure which reseller (if any) would take it back for an exchange?

Who would u recommend?

Thanx
any good reseller will exchange or fix a product with a serious issue. don't worry about it.

geared2play and ISTNC are good ones to consider... I think ProPortable has temorarily stopped selling them.
Add c9tech to the resellers that will work with you to get it replaced

ProPortable has poor customer service. I had initially considered buying from them, but they were rude and offensive during email exchanges.

I suggest you look elsewhere.

FWIW< I had a positive buying experience with ISTNC.

Thanx for the advice I really appreciate yet. Do you guys think its a good idea to buy one now, or should I wait for some christmas deals or whatever?

Everyone's been talking about Merom or Yonah coming out in January, would that affect the price of the Z70Va or would it possible get the new cpu (Yonah or Merom or whatever its called, assuming it does come out on time as predicted?).

Not sure what to do. This is truly the worse time to make a buying decision. Its the near the end of the year, Christmas shopping season is almost in full swing, not sure what to do.

Any input would be appreciated. I don't want to buy it and then 2 weeks later find out theres a christmas discount that just went into affect.

the arrival of new processors means new models, and the prices on current models should stay fairly stable for the moment.

You should also know that the new dual core P-M's will be much more expensive than single core ones when they first come out. It will take awhile for them to drop in price after they are first introduced. If you're looking for discounts off the current generation of CPU's, you probably wouldn't be interested in paying a premium for the newest technology when it first comes out.

Also, if you want an Asus laptop, they seem to wait awhile before releasing a model based on a new processor or platform. They won't be the first ones out of the gate with a new model based on a new platform, like Dell or Acer. I think it was 3 months after the Sonoma platform was launched that the Z71V came out. The Acer 8100 had been out since January; the Z71V launched in April. If that trend repeats itself, it certainly won't be this January when we see an Asus laptop based on Yonah or Merom. And that's not even mentioning the not so uncommon delays and/or shortages we've seen from Intel when bringing new processors to market.

So as always, the best advice is to buy a laptop when you need it. If you think you can wait several months and that the performance increase from Yonah or Merom will be worth the wait, then by all means, wait until the new stuff comes out. I can't imagine there being much of any discount for Christmas from anyone, maybe $50, if that. So if you need a laptop now, it's as good a time as any to buy one. But if you can wait, there's always better and faster technology around the corner.

And as far as where to buy from, ISTNC, Geared2Play, and C9Tech are all great places to buy from. You shouldn't have a problem with any of them.

Hope that helps

I agree

Yonah price structure should be similar to the current 533Mhz bus Pentium M's (is it Dothan or Banias?). Merom is supposed to be compatable with Yonah chipset.

Perhaps this influences your thoughts about the future?

agearnotebooks.com has very good prices on the z70va. when configured, it's cheaper because isntc doesnt have the option for 2x256 ram, and bluetooth is mandatory, and is not at agear.

i just ordered from c9tech.

I have not yet received my laptop since it is still in production, but so far the responses to my questions have been top notch.

c9tech also has student discounts of $50 dollars for all notebooks and if your laptop is more than $1995 the discount is $100 dollars

I had a talk with Gwen @ www.istnc.com yesterday about ordering a Z70Va and she said that I should hold off ordering for about a week because they are working on putting together a christmas/holiday promotion .

If you're thinking of buying but haven't yet then maybe you should wait a little bit more (even if you know you won't be buying from istnc.com , doesn't hurt to have more options available).

Thanx for the info. You're right, I'm not interested in the latest and greatest. Its always too expensive.

Just look the ridiculous price difference between the Dothan 2.0 and 2.13/2.26ghz.

Obscene!!

"AT this time we do not think the Z70Va's will be offered under any Xmas specials"

Thanks

Prices go up at chrismas. Ram will almost double in cost. Any promos are usually ofset by raising the price premptively knowing naive people will buy asap if they see "4 sale limited supply". Thats business. ANy penny pincher will scour 10 other sites and always find a lower price if they want to

Ok, last question are the parts used by all the resellers the same? Specifically the display screen, the HD's, DVD burners, etc.

What exactly differs from reseller to reseller? Is it just the service or can the quality of the parts differ from reseller to reseller?

Sorry for the 20 questions, I really appreciate all the input everyones put in.
