Acer support is the s**t!

Well after many computer companies and retailers, Im happy to say that I finally found one to brag about. Ive spent many countless hours and weeks talkin to support and waitin for my computer to be fixed by the Dells, HPs and Toshibas that its a breath fresh air to deal with the Acer guys.

Long story short, my mobo was fried, and after waiting on hold for less than 3 minutes (try that with Dell ), i got a great tech guy who was really helpful, and got my lappie out to their repair dept the next day. This was a monday, I sent it with Fed Ex ground that they payed for. It got there on Thursday afternoon, and got an email sayin they received it. By the next afternoon, I see that it has already shipped out back to me . Left on Friday night, by Monday morning at 6am it was on my doorstep. And it was a pretty big repair: a new mobo, cpu and hard drive.

So after reading so many horror stories of pple dealing with tech support, and waiting around for weeks to get their lappies back, I was really glad now that I chose Acer and got my unit shipped, repaired and back to me in less than a week, with it spending 6 of those days in transit.

This is not to bash on other companies, because im sure they have great support, but I have yet to experience, or read about such fast service.

You're right about Toshiba at least in my opinion. Great computers but I called the tech guys 'cause the DVD multi drive I have is slower in specs than the one they advertised with the laptop and they tried to tell me that it's supposed to write that slow. I don't mind the slowdown but really, lying about it doesn't help anyone.

Asshats, I tell you.

You should write a letter to the president, with allthe legal issues they've had for doing people wrong you might get some satisfaction.I would also send a copy to their legal department so when the admin see it went to the she might take care of you.

I actually had one of the admins of HPs president call me afer doing that. Got the job done.

thelostpotrol, i have alraedy mentioned to you about ur Matshita Drive, its a piece of junk... its not tosh's fault, its panasonics....... supposedly there's new firmware out now... and hopefuly it fixed the problem.

I've gotta agree with that.

During last summer, the fan died on the laptop, damaging the CPU. After a very short wait, and instructions to return to base, I dropped it in, as it wasn't too far to drive. I had the machine back, complete with a new CPU/Heatsink/Fan combination, inside two hours.

The fan died due to dust, insects and heat output.

You know, this advice you give helps nobody.

At least link the FirmWare, if you want to justify that piece of crap of a post that I am replying to.

These forums are for aid, not for aimless accusations, like your calling the drive "junk." It's a good drive which has given me NO errors thus far, the issue seems to be more of a driver thing than anything.

Acer support has be great for me also, dropped mine off 3 times to get repair (1. Failed bios, 2. Loud fan frmo the mobo replacement,3. Bad Power connection) all have had a day turn around to come back and pick them up.

I don't understand how people say acer has bad support.

I think it really depends on the acer support in that particular country. Could I ask what country are you guys who had excellent acer after-sales service at?

I dealt with the UK support when my adapter was buzzing (that's right buzzing like a bee) and five days after I sent them the email with my address I received a new adapter.

Hi, I can agree with Psychotic_UK, here in the UK, as a school IT Network Administrator, I've always had a good service from Acer, but then again so have I from Asus...
