I have just receive my brand new 5320 (thank you). When I turn it on all LED indication saying everything is fine (battery is charged, "green sun" led indicates computer is on now, cpu fan is slightly working, HD led is on for some seconds), BUT LCD refuses to turn on, it stays dark. No system check, no bios setup ...

Any ideas, suggestions?
Replace it?

I know it sounds stupid and I'm sorry if I offend you by asking this, but is your screens brightness turned up any?

Or try pressing Fn F7 I think it is. It might be set to use an external monitor.

Yes, I played with Fn+F8/F9 keys and plugged in an external monitor (Fn+F7 keys). it is something else.

Something more! the graphics card's fan is not spining, but I'm not sure it has to at this stage.

thanks for respond.

With it powered on, close the lid and reopen it. Could be a standby/hibernation problem.

The graphics card fan only turns on when the computer starts getting warm.

I'm not by notebook right now, but I think I did this, when I checked the fans.
Anyway I thought it might be some kind of standby/hibernation problem (didn't know reopen may help, this is my first notebook) and played with Fn+F4 key to toggle "standby/hibernation/off" - nothing.

But I'll surely try to close the lid and reopen it as soon as I'll be home.

I'm not a PC technician, but I'm familiar with this kind of problem in desktop computers world. When pc screen doesn't turn on on startup that is usually means, that there is a problem with your hardware, current supply to mobo...

So what I did is pulled memeory chips (I have two) out, that was the first thing on my mind and inserted just one of them. Turn on and the screen was ok. Then I inserted the second one (when laptop is off) - it worked. I looks like one of the memory chips was not in it's slot very well or it's kinda free out a little.

Good luck.
