TVI connector in Inspiron 9300???

Hi guys,

I was looking at the pictures in this thread:
http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=104203

If you scroll down to the picture on which the rear connectors are visible, you will notice a missing connector between the USB and DVI, its PCB label seems to indicate JTVI where J is standard refdes for connectors and TVI would stand for TV-Input?

Are the electronics in there built to support TV-Input? If so, I'd love to know what that missing connector is.....

PS: Sorry if that was answered before, I did not find it.

Replying to my own thread.... it seems to be TV1 because you can see a missing TV2 connector between the left red circle and the left copper heatpipe.

Still interesting....

Yeah, I noticed this the other day when I was invistigating things for a couple of mods I got planned, here is a closer pic I took:



There were a few other empty prints that looked interesting too. It's always funny when you find these things though, I think to myself what a good idea they would have been (if they have the usage I'm thinking of) and why the hell didn't they implement it...

Is there a spot to solder an internal mic? That's a mod I'd love to do because I have VOIP thru work, I can make and receive calls thru my laptop.... the missing internal mic kinda sucks.

Well, you could simply piggy-back of the mic connector on the side and route a connection to somewhere you would get good recording without interferance from the internal workings (say around the screen bezel or the front speakers - tons of room there). I was going to do this but since my new webcam has a mic built in I don't really have the need now, untill I can get a web cam in there too (probably a bit OTT). The inside of these laptops is great for mods like this, some much room...
