HP printer under Mepis Linux ... issues

So I have a HP PSC1315 wired to my desktop that is running mepis2005.1. I had it all configured nice and well via hpij for printing and hpoj for scanning. Long story short...it worked, until one morning a few days ago it suddenly decided NOT to work. So i figured i can go to the KDE control center and reinstall the printer. I've had issues with the printer before and that usually fixed it. So i tried it, and um...no luck. So then I powerdown the printer, unmount it, power it back up, and remount (modprobe) it. Ok, so the printer prints the default test page (it prints a page by default every time you power it on), and thats fine. then i reinstall it via KDE control center and press the "Test" button. it says "Command to Printer Sent OK" or somethign along those lines. About 2 minutes later the printer sucks in a page about 1/2 way and stops, nothing else happens. The Power/Error led starts blinking so i gotta clear the paper out and power down and restart the printer.

I am really clueless about wahts going on? any ideas?

Can you put it onto a win box and see if that works? I run a DJ855c oldschool printer. Sorry I can't help beyond that.

i dont have a windows box available. my lappy is linux only, that desktop is linux only, and my Thinkpad that is WinXP has been borrowed by my bro (while his Z71v was in the shop) and will not be returned till the weekend.

ok, so i hooked up my lappy to the printer yesterday in an attempt to get it to print.....hey, it took a while, but it started printing. so at least i know the printer is NOT dead, hmm....time to investigate why my desktop won't get the job done

Ok, that's a start. I assume it's a USB printer. Do you have cups running on the box? Maybe manualy send a print job if you can. I know you used to be able to with cups.

the printer worked on that computer before, and i have not upgraded/removed any programs so i dont think anything broke in those terms.
