Doc, can you disable soft shadows on fear, retest, and post your frame rate?
I hear soft shadows enabled offer little in terms of eye candy, but the performance deficit is substantial.

its good enough for Vent but not for any serious recording. FOr me all I use the mic for is in game chat and I have had no complaints.

good review and pics doc, especially the internals!

I read a post somewhere that the 5720 does not support voip in BF2 (neither with the internal mic or with an external)...any clues if this is true, anyone?

Are the fans on high always, or just always when taxing the GPU during games/benchmarking?

I don't have noise cancellation headphones so I'm trying to get an idea of how quiet/noisy the 5720 is. Do you think it would be too noisy to use in a classroom, or that it would be noisy enough to bug someone sharing your room if it was usually on? (My sister's roomate has a laptop that drives her nuts.)

Thanks for the review and answering questions.

Quick question... I just bought a 5720 and there is one thing that I'd like to know. I have a 7620 right now, and all the buttons on the front (volume, play/pause, etc.) don't work when the computer is on, they only work when I am playing a cd with the computer off. Is that the same with 5720?

Did you remember to install the software for them?

CptSPanky: DOnt forget the 81.87 drivers, amkes a huge diff with FEAR

all you with Audio dj questions: Sorry I have never used it! I have a home stereo and dont bother with the tinny speakers.

However I can tell you the volume controls work all the time. In game I sometimes need to crank it down and np it works.

Good review doc. I wanted to see how some of the owners of the 5720 have been liking their systems and also wanted to see how it is handling gaming.

I just ordered the Hypersonic version of this (CX7) the other day, and your review allowed me to have a "warm fuzzy" on the capability for gaming. Obviously, PCT's review always does it for me too, and since they actually game on the systems, it helps. But I also love seeing the user reviews.

In any case, great review again, and thanks for the contribution!
