how can i remedy the crappy sound card?

is there any way i can get my sound card to not suck? i have had the laptop for a while and this problem has always plagued me. and also the sound gets barely louder than my 12in powerbook. wtf ???

even when i plug my laptop into some external speakers it still sounds kind of crappy (in comparason to my ipod plugged into the same ones) any ideas

If you want a REAL fix, do what I just did: order an Audigy 2Zs pcmcia soundcard and disable the onboard audio.

HUGE difference!!!!!
