Still another Laptop recommendation thread...help me out!

Hi, All.

I am looking for a good laptop for general use and gaming (WOW, BF2, etc).
It should include the following:

PM @ 2GHZ, or P4 @ 3+GHZ.
Screen: 15-15.4"
Dedicated 128MB (or more) video
60GB+ 7200 RPM HDD
1GB Ram
$1600 or less.

I have read a number of the threads here, and visited a number of the vendor sites also. The problem I am running into, is that I keep seeing bad remarks about just about every model I have looked at. Originally I was looking at a Sager 4381, but I read that they have heat problems. I have heard bad things about Dell displays. I am just not sure, and I want to be sure before I plop down a bunch of $$$ for the purchase.

I am also hearing conflicting things about P4 vs. PM.
Which one is truly going to work better for gaming? I know that there is more involved then just processor speed.

Any help is very much appreciated!! My quick trek into buying a laptop has turned into a big headache!

Thanks,
J

well....
no matter where you look or who you end up buying from, there will be people who will bash the company. basically most of the brands are good, you just have to go with what you want, find a laptop that fits your specs, and buy it. if you order from dell, acer, asus, sony, ect. you can almost be assured you will get a laptop that works, and if it doesnt, chances are good that you will not have a single problem with CS. and the P4 vs. the PM. the P4 has more power, but it also creates more heat. the PM is more efficent, and creates less heat, but isnt quite as powerful. you really want a PM in your laptop, i have a 1.86 in my lappie and it is plenty for most things(ex. BF2, CSS, HL2, ect.). besides its a laptop, and you really dont get battery life w/ a P4. go with the PM, you wont be dissapointed. as for brands, asus and acer are pretty solid.

good luck.

As I've said before... In Canada, Toshiba Satellite M70. It has a 5400rpm drive though, and a 1.73ghz PM but the HD is also 100gb which makes up for the slower rpms, I would say. It's 1699, in CAD of course.

You should specify where you are.
