This looks like a good program, give it a shot:

I'm using the program now, works great, it's free but you're asked to register it (also free). The in-program link to the register page is messed up, this is the right page:http://www24.brinkster.com/kundang/S...rame.asp?pID=2

Also might want to change the "change wallpaper" button to something other than F7 (i use ctrl-alt-F7).

Everything else is fairly straightforward, nice little program.

Ive been trying to find a desktop wallpaper changer that acts like Mac OS X, in that it will change it every 10 seconds, but will fade in and out of the images smoothly. I have yet to find such a program

I have an image viewer called XnView that can do that for slideshows and screen savers, very nice program.

Compumatrix Wallpaper Changer 2.

I've used this for years to rotate my wallpapers every 15 minutes. You can set the interval, folder to use, etc. and its free, and very good

Hey, I really want this program but it seems any links to download it attempt to bring you to compumatrix website which now comes up as online casino games! Can someone post version 2.1? I can only find 1.0b.

NM, found it here

Also check out WallPaper (aka Crawlpaper):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/crawlpaper/

It does exactly what you want, is free, and it's even open source if you want to see exactly how it works.

"WallPaper (alias crawlpaper) is a desktop changer (not a screensaver) which includes a crawler for web download, a streamripper, an audio player, an mp3 tag editor, a picture browser, a thumbnails generator, a wrapper for Berkeley DB, etc."

Hmm I don't like how it includes so many things. Can it blend from pic to pic?

There is a program called background switcher available as part of Microsoft Power toys (free - search the Microsoft website for details). It adds an extra tab to display properties to enable random wallpapers.

I've used this for years and some of the photos you find are just mind blowing, real distraction at work.

Not sure about transitions, but it only uses about 9mb of memory.
