Xerox Phaser 8500/8550 noise question

Hello,

I am planning to replace my 5 year old laser printer with Phaser 8550/DP. I heard that 8500/8550 series are very noisy. I do not mind if it is really noisy during printing, but do mind when it is in standby. My old laser printer is completely silent when it is in standby, which is perfect to use in my bed room. For those who have used Phaser 8500/8550 series, could you please let me know how quiet or noisy when it is in standby?

I know it's an older model, but the 850dp (branded as a Tektronix) we had at my work was soooooo loud. Also, the wax ink sucks, especially if you plan on copying the documents. If you run a set of docs through the top loader of the copy machine, the wax sticks to the glass, and then the copier can't run the page through, and it jams...
