5660- Old UXGA vs new UXGA

post #1 of 9
Thread Starter

The one on the right is the new UXGA LCD that the 5660 now comes with. The one on the left is the old UXGA the 5660 that used to be used up until late last week.
You can see how much black the color of black is instead of washed out a little. The viewing angles of the new LCD are better than any I've ever seen. The models are as follows:

Old 5660 UXGA (on the left)
Model= LG LP150U1 UXGA
Res= 1600 X 1200
Contrast= 200:1
Colors= 262,144
Brightness= 150cdm2
Picture element/pitch= .19095 X .19095mm
right/left view angle= 45 degrees
above viewing angle= 15 degrees
under viewing angle= 35 degrees

NEW 5660 UXGA (on the right)
Model= IAUX14
RES= 1600 X 1200
Contrast 400:1
Colors= 262,144
Brightness= 200cdm2
Picture element/pitch= .19095 X .19095mm
right/left viewing angle= 85 degrees
above viewing angle= 85 degrees
under viewing angle= 85 degrees

Refresh Rate?

Wow, these pics of the new screen look great!

Question tho- I've read that the new Dell UltraSharp screen does away with motion blur- an important concern for us gamers and DVD watchers. Does anyone have comparison numbers or experience as to the motion blur level of the new 5660 screen?

Can Sager claim the same non-existant blur as the Dell Ultrasharp?

I would also like to know this as i plan to do some low level video editing on my laptop and, of course, play games! Also, does the 8887 Series use this UXGA LCD also, as that is the one I plan to buy.

Indeed. It seems to offer worse side-angle viewing, but on the plus side, it's got full a full 24-bit color-spectrum (as opposed to the other's 18-bit), thus it's got better contrast.

Cheers.

I don't think you can buy it by itself. But PCTorque does have the part number, I think.

Cheers.

So the 5680 is better because of the wide angle...? Is the 8890 quality pretty much the same minus an extended viewing angle or something? I want the better screen, high res 16.1inch lcd. Colore, brightness, contrass and response time all are better than a viewing angle extension.

HERE'S the pics of the 15" UXGA next to the 16.1" UXGA. The 16.1" has well over average angle viewing, but nothing like the 15" UXGA that is used in the 5670.
