Bluetooth mouse stops working after returning from standby

Thread Starter
I have the mx900 bluetooth mouse, which works great, except that sometimes (not always) when I return from standby (generally from closing the top to the laptop), the mouse doesn't reconnect. I've found that all I have to do is open up the bluetooth control panel, click properties on the mouse and view the services tab... and magically the mouse starts working again.

This is insanely annoying, because I put my computer in standby all the time (instead of turning it off) and for some reason my touchpad barely works (haven't investigated that yet, since I so rarely use it).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Bluetooth Compatibility

Others in here have complained of that with TM350 Bluetooth operated by the Dell supplied Toshiba Stack/Driver.

Network: Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal Module, Driver, Windows 2000, Windows XP, English, Multi System, v.v3.03.02D, A00
Release Date:11/10/2005
Description:Toshiba stack v3.03.02 for Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Module.{Click this link}

The above is a new version of that Stack/Driver released by Dell yesterday and this is what you could try first.

Depending on what other Bluetooth Devices you need to operate, others have switched to the Windows XP (sp2) supplied BT Stack/Driver.

I have the TM300 which Dell supplies Widcomm (the best) Stack Driver for, so I have not needed to do any of the above

The MS Stack installed itself once to my system (following a BIOS Flash) but had problems interfacing with my GPS so I had to revert to Widcomm.
I know it is too easy for MS Stack to install, but you will need to search in here for the best way to make it happen

Edit is not working, but:- Logitech has recently released a Widcomm (version 5x) I use MS IntelliMouse so it had no advantages at all over the version 3x from Dell for me.

There is more than you would ever want to know about this Driver HERE

Thanks muchly for your help. I'll try out the various driver changes tonight. I think I may actually be using MS's bluetooth stack, but I'm not 100% sure. Have to check when I get home.

I just downloaded the 11/10 bluetooth drivers from the link above and the stack works MUCH better with my i9300/iogear bluetooth mini mouse. Before, with widcomm/windows sp2/ prev. dell stack, there was a noticable lag, as if the mouse only sent information in "pulses," making erratic movement. I accepted the condition only because i thought that was the standard of bluetooth mice on the market. However, with the 11/10 stack from dell, there is NO noticeable lag, and the mouse is as responsive as my old standby Logitech mx700. No more dealing with trying to uninstall MS stack, (a pain), or modifying widcomm files. Great driver!

Link here for How to remove Bluetooth wireless device support in Windows XP Service Pack 2

from above MS site "...MORE INFORMATION
By default, Windows XP SP2 installs Bluetooth wireless device support when you install Windows XP SP2 to a computer. After installation, if a Bluetooth wireless device or radio is detected, Device Manager will install the driver for the Bluetooth device."

Always best to remove an older Stack/Driver, prior to installing a newer one.

BTW, tried this out and it seems to be working. So far no problems.

I also have an MS intelimouse and I had to use MS Bluetooth to make it work, the new Dell driver seems to have corrected that problem. Now I don’t have to reconnect the mouse after each restart.
Thank for the info.
