Old 4090xcdt backlight suddenly dead

I have an old Satellite 4090XCDT here, it used to work fine but suddenly the backlight stopped working. I have not been able to get it back on in any way, pressing FN+F5 a couple of times doesn't bring up the backlight, not even momentarily. I cleaned the contacts of the inverter and the video cable, that didn't change anything. I think I should test the inverter but what's the best way to do that? Also, I cannot find any lid switch on this laptop. On my tecra 8100 the lid switch is there but there's no such thing on the 4090. Does anyone here know how the 4090 detects that the lid is closed, and could it be that that switch is faulty in some way?

I have a 4030 and the lead swith is somewhere at the closing mecanism. When you close the laptop and the "fixing hook" pops into place shots down the display. I had also problems with the inverter. I bought it as a scrap lappy and rebuilt it with parts from my bourndout 4200. The display didn't wanted to start so I took out the inverter from the 4200 (luckyly they are the same) and with that one worked fine. The strange was I couldn't find any clue what would refered that its burned out.
Try to conect it to an ext display so make sure the graphic card is OK.
Good luck!

Hmm I think I'll measure the voltage of the inverter first and work from there... opening the laptop will be like 40 screws?
