Hi

Does anyone now what DMA of DVD drive and HD drive means ?

I just wanna Install Region Free programm , and the programm ask me :
(You need to enable the DMA of DVD drive and HD drive , or else the DVD playback may be jerky .Would you like to enable DMA now ? )

What should I do ?
What is going to happen if I say yes ?
Is that bad for my Computer ?

Thank you

Click YES to enable DMA mode...what will happen is contained below...it will actually make the PC perform BETTER...

Direct Memory Access (DMA) – The default mode for an optical drive is PIO mode which you will see a pretty nasty hit to your CPU usage while using your optical drive. That is why it is highly recommended that you use DMA mode. Your games that require a lot of drive accesses will run quite a bit smoother with this enabled. Also sometimes when transfering large amounts of data from a optical drive to your hard drive you will actually be able to do other things while the information is being copied. Having DMA mode enabled allows your drive to directly access memory without pulling a lot of your CPU power. This also applies to DVD playback...it will allow for smoother playback.

To enable DMA mode in WinXP you will have to go to the IDE/ATAPI controller settings for the channel that your CD drive is on and set it for DMA if available.
