Ferrari 4002 in Ubuntu issues

I have installed Ubuntu 5.10 but I cannot get wireless to work. I got ndiswrapper installed with the driver but it just wont connect. iwconfig shows that the ESSID is off, and trying to change that with iwconfig commands just gets ignored.

Does anyone know why Wireless wont work?

because linux is anti-wireless. or at least that been my impression. go through the linux forum and see how many un-resolved wireless issues there are.

I don't think Linux is anti-anything. If you post your lspci output for the card that would be helpful. I'm running wirelessly right now. It has an intel 2100 mini-pci.

is the radio on? i dont know which one the Ferrari has.. but yeah check dmesg , or even tail -f /var/log/messages while fiddling with trying to get it working.

all you need is 1) radio enabled in hardware 2) proper driver 3) iwconfig/ifconfig or wpa_supplicant

i have no problems with linux wireless. and my card (atheros) evne has native linux drivers (madwifi) but i still use ndiswrapper because the ubuntu restricted modules package has the wrong fglrx drivers (had to install the good version manually) and madwifi won't build by itself, so ndiswrapper was easier to get going)

I am not sure if the radio is on or not, when I push the hardware button, dmesg gives me a unknown keycode error so that does not work. I know the radio is on in the .conf file for the driver so I know its not that.
