Hey guys,
First time posting, but I've been visiting the forums since late 2002. Well anyway, I finally bought one! Whooppeee!

This is my new evil machine, which is appropriate because my old machine is evil as well, but only in suckitude. Dude, it's a friggin Dell Dimension 4100 running close to 700 mhz with ram you can't even upgrade anymore.
I can't wait for this thing to arrive, which is ETA'd for December 5th. My intentions are to keep on learning maya. I almost bought the quadro, but with the P.O.S. dell I've been trying to render with, I could care less if it brightens up real time anti-aliasing or speeds up the framerate by 10 fps, etc. If it has a blazing CPU it renders all the same, and I don't spend 4k on a machine unless I intend to have fun with it. Besides, the University Computers will take the brunt of the heavy stuff anyway.
Now I can finally play the games I've been sitting on. My 2004 Christmas & Birthday presents included Far Cry, UT 2004, and Doom 3. All from buddies and relatives that should have known that I didn't have the hardware. But my day has come!

. I have had it since mid October. The 7800 was not out when I ordered mine, but I am very happy with my 6800 go Ultra. Mine plays all games at max settings. They do run hot, but you should expect that. Anyway hope you enjoy and welcome to the Alienware Family. This one is my second one by the way. I had the 5620 DS as well.
too much anticipation will fry my brain. I've got classes to worry about. Also, how accurate are the ETAs? I've ready stories where the purchaser has received their lappy up to and including two weeks early. But I'm betting for every good story there are five horrible ones.
so I'd have something to open up on X-mas morning. I've tried to convince my Mom that 1) It would be horrible to open it three weeks later to find a power cord missing, or some other order screw-up that can't be resolved until January or 2) I already know what I'm getting. Christmas morning is all about surprises. I ordered the friggin' thing, Big Whoopin Surprise!
