Microsoft is so evil to charge for Xbox live to begin with. Let me ask you what is Xbox live? what are you paying for? Cheating went on all the time with Halo as people stand-by. There are no servers and the games were hosted on kids xbox's who had the best internet and could host the game for everyone as he could standby by shutting off his modem and turning it back on, as he was the "host." So what are you paying for? What is this Xbox live Service? Please tell me because for 60 dollars a month I'm not seeing where this money is going towards. I mean you're paying every month for your internet service, then you buy their xbox for 300 some dollars, then the game title for 50 now 60 dollars, and then you pay for xbox live? Where is the advantage in all of this?
First of all its 50 dollars a year. And as for what you get? A centralized service set up by microsoft itself. Any devoloper can add xbox live support very simply and quickly. Every player can see what there friends are playing at the moment, send game invites,or chat. Any xbox player is connected to every other xbox player (the 360 will not require the subscription for this portion, its connected to live no matter what)This is different from the sony way of onlin with the devoloper being entirely responsible for the online portion of the game. This means only those with large resources can implement online at a respectable level, leaving most of the small guys who have a great game without online cabability or crappy online capability. And we also havent even seen metal gear solid yet so kind of hard to say if it will beat everything.

I'm with him WoW JBR you're dumb what do you know about software? I have a friend my neighbor actually who happens to work for sony in London now. I'm from the United States btw, and he was telling me how PS2 was a flop in that they had the most titles because they charged so little, and sony was assuming that their software team could dominate the PS2 console and produce tons of money. Were they ever wrong, it turns out SCEA (The sony Software company) Took a huge dive when going from PS1 to PS2, as EA took on a Huge Boom. PS1 had titles from 989 studios which just brought it tons of money. Then PS2 came along and they thought the same thing would happen and SCEA dropped off the face of the planet. No one even knows what 989 studios is anymore or what SCEA is. You think these companies are making money on selling consoles? it's been said about 2 billion times that consoles are sold at a lost, Remember that!!!! And as far as what I'm told by my close friend Quality comes before Quantity. Because when comparing PS2 to Xbox right now you'll see although PS2 has way more titles it's xbox that has more quality titiles, and why? Because Microsoft charges more for the license so when you're a software developer and you're paying big time money to produce a title it better be a damn good one, or else you'll end up losing money. Why is it that PS2 has more shit titles then any other console on the market? And please answer my question...

Anwer: Because it's so CHEAP TO Produce a PS2 title where it wouldn't matter if the game was shitty or not.

I get that same service from http://www.xfire.com/xf/partner/ea/bf2nv/index.php have a look at it. And you care that much for ranking? You think Ranking in a game is a good thing? From what I understand it's what started cheating in Halo 2 to begin with and cheating in BF2. Why do you care about stats so much? you're willing to pay for those stats? And here have a look at Metal Gear 4 http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/adventur...id4/index.html And I was never comparing Xbox live to Sony, I was just saying in general the serivice and ability to play games with others should be free. If you want to buy a server you can do so, and if you want to pay for your internet you should do so, but to play a game to communicate with others How would you like it if I charged you 50 dollars a year to talk on this forum? would you appreciate that?

I never once mentioned ranking.... And they will no longer be charging 50 dollars for there "silver" package which includes pretty much everything but playing games online. And my comparison with sony was to explain how not charging money to play online consoles works. No centralization.

Known Sony they will but a "Rootkit" (don't know google it) on your PS3 so they can control what you do like they do with your music cd right now. I hope you guys like your PS3 with spyware because Sony is going down that rout......

let's cut that crap. you are right about the software but you still a good platform to run it and ps33 will be better than the xbox360 and the xps2as afar as gaming goes. as if developper are going to buy kit to develop game on the ps3, it will depend on the price but also on the demand. when the ps2 was launch, people said the same thing about the developer kit for sony and still ps2 outsold the xbox360 and more games were available on the ps2.

xbox360 will have his share of adopters but again it wil be demographic as you know people over in europe and asia of course usually tend to get the ps2 more than the xbox360,... just a fact.

in the end of it there's a market for all of the platform event the nintendo revolution and see the market share being the same as it was for the previous console. and yes pc gaming is here to stay as not a lot of people are casual gamers who needs simple game (card, sims..) not all of the much too hype fps games (which i personally i adore still).

PS3, XBOX 360 ..
One sucks, the others better, one has game x, the other has game y.
One is slower, but the other has a different piece of hardware. bla bla bla bla

Folks, these are two different machines, but both are powerfull from the hardware side. Just like the old "Intel" versus "AMD" wars, peoples view on them will differ.

The thread was started as XBOX 360 versus 7800gtx and has gone way off topic.

Back on topic.. the XBOX 360 versus 7800gtx go.
If you have to pick one, pick the one that is best for YOU. If you don't use gaming console's, or don't have a Hi Def TV, maybe you might find a faster video card would do more for you. If your into console's, then the console might be a better choice. That's the beauty of things, choices!!

I agree, and I appologize for my contribution on going off topic, anyways with that being said I sold my xbox 1 for 200 dollars to EB games cash and used it towards buying a 7800 GTX and not an xbox 360 as I would have gotten 275 in Store credit towards an xbox 360. My reason being that I was not impressed with the game titles or xbox live, and I didn't feel like spending 60 dollars a game for xbox 360 (The Intial price xbox 360 titiles according to EB GAmes) And the biggest title on my 3 page list of xbox 360 items was CAll of Duty 2 which is clearly better on PC.

I'm currently playing COD2. I also played demo of this game on xbox 360 at Walmart and even with settings on low graphics looked better on my xps. I don't even have 7800gtx...

It's cheaper than a WoW subscription.

Yall can go off topic if you want I don't give a sh1t. I think I have add sometimes so it's all good.

I'm leaning both ways right now. I tried to order the 7800 from dell yesterday but they quoted me 599. I balked, they offered $60 off with free shipping. I still don't see the card being worth $530....then I have to buy a battery and ps puts me over $600.

Now your talking price wise you get an xb360, 4 games and a spare controller or the 7800.

BUT I might be able to con my gf into getting me a 360 for xmas....she hates me playing games all the time but maybe she would like it better if I were doing it with her gift?LOL

Afraid of getting robbed on console titles? Try gamefly.

Yeah I'm done with consoles after getting with my guys in ventrillo and playing games with them. I have me set group that I want to hang out and play games with, and I'm pretty happy just doing that atm. and if you install the card yourself you'll get a 100 dollar refund so it's not so bad.
get it from mark..... while you still can......so the 7800 will come out cheaper....

nah I got it for 400 dollars that's fine, at this point 30-40 dollars isn't going to bother me anymore, this is my third video card in a time spand of 10 days. Oh and my friend was telling me about COD 2 on Xbox 360 that it's just like the PC version and is very good. However they messed up on crucial thing. The Multiplayer supports a Maximum of 8!!! PLAYERS.. Yeah's thats right 8!!! You lovin 4 on 4 gaming? I mean let me go over this with you one more time. You pay nearly 400 dollars for xbox 360, the 60 dollars for COD 2 the current best looking game, and then 50 dollars for xbox live to play 4 on 4 COD 2??? Anyone else think this is a bit too much??? Oh and for you console game lovers try this game out I'm told it's awesome I hope you get it for christmas http://xbox.ign.com/articles/666/666652p1.html ROFL!!!
