Computer will crash if you install the new 7.95 driver on the 4780. Omega drivers do the same thing. I have a feeling, the AGP issues on the 4780 were not completely resolved. If this is the case, I will regretfully have to send mine back.
I'm extremely happy. I was having strange problems in Tribes and Tribes 2. It was like I was lagging in game even though I was playing over a LAN.. the graphics were very choppy. But after installing the new drivers it runs flawlessly Add another success story to the list.
Oh man, I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I just got my 4780 last week and being the good do-be I went right to the Sager site and downloaded and installed the latest drivers for everything on the system. Things were fine until I started doing some configuration and install of programs.
Found that whenever I ran anything to do with 3D (Screensavers) the system would go to a black screen and the three fingered salute wouldn't even reboot it. Had to use the power button. Couldn't get Unreal Tournament 2003 to install either. Kept crashing the machine.
I'm going to rollback to the drivers on the cd and see what happens.
Ok. I uninstalled all the ATI referenced programs in the control panel. Went to device manager and uninstalled the display adapter.
Rebooted and reinstalled from the cd that came with the laptop and all appears to be well now. Not lock ups.
my 5680 with 3.9 ATI driver did the same thing yours did during the ship level. With the Omega driver, the freezing decreased, but still freezes out of every 2 attempts to save, where as original 3.9 driver, everytime it freezes as you go up the stairs.
Also, during the Russian stage of crossing the Volga River and going up the docks (unarmed with only a few ammo handed to you by Russian officers).
As you reach the crates of boxes and the mortar explode in front of you: I see orange and red color 'ghosting' ? or shades instead of the original blurriness (this happens in the Omega 3.9 driver). The original ATI 3.9 does NOT do that orange-red blurry effect when explosion hits near you.
