I agree, the entire "thing" is gorgeous. Yes, its big etc., but once you look at the screen its simply amazing. To be honest, I dont care anymore whether its LG or samsung, I have become very paranoid reading some of the posts. Congrats to you too

EDIT: OK, the LCD is LPL000 , I thinks is LG, although I see nothing wrong with it!

Gargantua congrats on your new system, here are some tips for you on your screen, first, the way to tell if you have an LG is as follows, use the "fn" key and arrow down key to turn your monitors brigthness all the way down, now one click at a time bring it back up, there are eight levels of brigthness.
IF as you turn it back up you dont see any change in brigthness between settings two and three, then you have an LG screen, If you have a change in brigthness at every setting, then its a Samsung.
Did you get wuxga or wxga??

Here's a link to some great color profiles you can use in your nvidia display properties to make your laptops colors really look great, alot punchier than standard settings, these profiles are for samsung panels, if you have an LG panel im sorry you'll have to search for those yourself.

Here's the Link:
