I have a Question for you.

How / What did Dell screw up w/ your computer? Did they put some second-rate part in it or sth. you didn't order (like a 512MB RAM instead of 1024MB RAM) ... or what? ... When did you find out that Dell made a mistake? Before or at the moment you recieved your notebook?

You see, I'm asking this, because my notebook won't be bought directly by me. Well, it will be payed w/ my CC! It just won't be sent to my address. It will be sent to my friend's address, since I'm not a american citizen. But the problem is, he doesn't realy know what or how to check the comuter is the right one, before he'll forward the notebook to me. Hence the question, how did Dell screw up your notebook? ...

You see, buying a computer before I see it, is really new to me and I've got all kinds of fears that something might go wrong ... It's almost starting to crack my nerves

Thanks in advance for help!

they screwed up a desktop
but on my 9300, they sent the xga screen, not the uxga, they didnt send the tv tuner/remote control, and on my 20"ws display (diffrent order) the usb hub doesnt work
i just had bad luck with dell lately.

oh, and i got a computer (6000) with my cc and shiped it to my brothers home, he switched over all the war. info to his name no problem

About the i9300 ... did you return it and Dell send you another one or did a Dell technician came over and fixed it?
My situation is somewhat like this: This friend of mine that's helping me w/ the purchase, won't be able to check the computer (whether everything is OK with it and that they send me the right one) before FedExing it to me to Europe ... So, only upon recieving the my notebook I will be able to check myself what I got and if everything works OK. ... So ... this is what I think ... Is it possible for Dell to return the variance in money to my C.C. account in case they send me something I didn't order (like in your case: WXGA instead of WUXGA screen), since returning the notebook back to US is out of the question ... What do you think?

The whole online purchse process at dell.com is still somewhat confusing me, hence one more question ... Upon ordering the 6000 for your brother, did you have to give Dell your phone number (the credit card holder's phone number) in case they might or want to contact you for some further Dell<-->customer comunication ... or did you give them the brother's phone number ... so he was the contact person of the whole transaction?

I again apologize for the . Hope these Questions aren't some I've bought stuff online before, but buying something by myslef for someone else is kinf of new to me. If this is a repost, then just show me the thread, where I can get the help I need ... cause I sure am some sorry-a55-Dell.com-buying-newbie

Again ... thanks for all the help, woodstock

I don't know about the logistics of what you are doing, is it that much of a better deal than to go through dell Europe?

Yep, it is! Believe me. I'm not willing to spend $3800 - $4500 to buy an i9300 here in Slovenia, if I can get one in USA for less than $2000. For $4000 I could buy a used Honda Civic, which is basically just a Honda, but at least it's something ... it's a car ... and not some bunch of plastics, chips etc. with a $4000 price tag

I'm kinda concerned about mine. I ordered a 9300 on Saturday. According to their website, its already been kitted, built and tested, but the website hasn't indicated that its been boxed yet, so i don't think its shipped. I hope i get mine soon. With Thanksgiving being tomorrow, i know i won't get it tomorrow, but maybe Friday is hopeful What do you all think?
