|I'm thinking of getting a 5720 but fan noise is a big issue to me, could you comment on how noisy you think it is? I know that can be very subjective but I'd appreciate any feedback. Also, are the fans always on at max (or near max), or is it more quiet till your playing a game or doing something GPU intensive.
I have an easy solution. Plug in any pair of headphones to the headphone jack and the terrible hiss will overpower ANY fan noise.
(Sorry, that's just my current issue against the 5720)
The fan really isn't that bad. I'm working at my cubicle in Creation Museum right now and I barely notice the fan noise. But we do have white noise generators here. In a quite room, the sound is more audible, but it is still quite during most use.
Because games require more from the PUs G and C (that's a fun of saying it), the fan blows more. But in almost any game other than Splinter Cell, environment noise would usually overpower the fan.
The absolute loudest the fan gets is when you press the new Fn-F2 key, which puts the fan at maximum warp. At this highest setting, which has never been activated even when running BF2 demo at maxed graphics, the fan is about conversation volume. But again, I've never seen this activated during gameplay.
