Got My 7800go GTX today .. Here's some benches - Page 3

Okay, my original estimate was a bit optimistic...I don't see this card hitting in the 7800 range...more like 7600 is realistic, I guess...

With an o/c of 450/1200 I'm scoring 7468, so the initial increase with the core clock is kinda logarithmic (if I'm thinking of the curve correctly) that accelerates quickly and then levels off after the initial jump...there is probably a 'sweet spot' where increasing the memory and the clock only results in marginal gains (the 'leveling-off' or inflection point of the curve)...that should be what we're searching for, I guess...

Max GPU core temps went to 74 at this o/c level (just one run-through of 3dMark05, though)...

pretty sweet score hammermd...let us know what the sweet spot is when you find it

just caught your post hammermd, awesome

Ok...here's the table of scores...I'm going to play games @455/1200 for awhile and see if it's actually stable:

Clocks--------------3DMARK
400C1065--------------6705
425C1100--------------7058
450C1100--------------7252
450C1200--------------7468
450C1150--------------7375
455C1100--------------7334
455C1200--------------7543
460C1100--------------7369
465C1150--------------ARTIFACT
470C1200--------------ARTIFACT
470C1100--------------ARTIFACT
475C1150--------------ARTIFACT
475C1200--------------ARTIFACT

hammermd...thanks for those. are you reinstalling drivers every time you flash as well?
Since the mobile and desktop parts are identical, has anyone tried flashing a 7800 go with a desktop bios to unlock them?
what would u expect to unlock if they're identical?
KOF...hardware appears to be the same, but desktop card is clocked higher which is what we're trying to do with the mobile card
post #50 of 72
Also flashing to a desktop bios may lead to more conventional overclocking methods via Coolbits or other software programs. It's worth a shot if anyone is brave enough.
The mobile version and the desktop version are not the same cards.

Er...I wouldn't do that if I were you...unless maybe one of you guys who got a card with a bent heatsink and are going to get a replacement anyway!

Anyhow, 455/1200 is unstable in games, even though it gets through 3DMark once...I think we're going to find this a lot. I've updated the list to reflect the current state of testing:

Clocks--------------3DMARK---------------STABLE?
400C1065--------------6705---------------?
425C1100--------------7058---------------?
450C1100--------------7252---------------?
450C1200--------------7468---------------CURRENTLY STABILITY TESTING IN GAMES
450C1150--------------7375---------------?
455C1100--------------7334---------------?
455C1200--------------7543---------------CRASH ON NFSMW2
460C1100--------------7369---------------?
465C1150--------------ARTIFACT---------?
470C1200--------------ARTIFACT---------?
470C1100--------------ARTIFACT---------?
475C1150--------------ARTIFACT---------?
475C1200--------------ARTIFACT---------?

Ya on second thought flashing to desktop would be a bad idea, the power requirements would be way off even thought the cores are similar.

great work, ta

have you tried using the ati beta tool to check for artifacts, once you set a clock rate

It may save you some time than loading up games.
I found its very accurate and starts flagging artifacts at a level before I am able to see them with the eye

Shoman, you talk about Flashing the 7800 BIOS rather than tooling around with Auto OC.

I haven't found a guide relating to the 7800 flash nor have I found the hacked BIOS for it. Any links you have to share?

Brave ya right more like pure nuts the protential problems do not out weight the rewards. Of course there is always someone silly enough - oh - brave enough to try so .....who will it be , well if you have to RMA you may get a replacement in a week or two ...or longer who Knows

You don't use a 'hacked' BIOS, exactly...you make your own using Nibitor 2.5...make like 40 or 50 different BIOSes with different clock rates and burn them to a bootable ROM along with NVFLASH...then you boot from CD and type:

nvflash 450C1200.ROM

or whatever file ya want to flash to...the 'ORIGINAL' bios is read by Nibitor right from your card and THAT is the BIOS image you modify...I've already put all this onto a CD image you can burn in Nero...just give me somewhere to upload it (it's pretty small), and we can post a link...I'm not going to email the frigging thing to 4,000,000 separate people, though, lol...
