Hello guys!
i m new around here an the proud owner of a killing machine 3438 g !
but i have a preoblem ! i undervolted but the heat is still a problem to me and i would appreciate if you could tell me if there is a fan controlling sollution to keep working at his best speed all the time even when is clocked al 800!

if someone is already put this problem and there is a solved one sorry!

Maybe you could say how hot it gets.
Indeed, tell us exactly what kind of temperatures are you getting.
If they are ridiculously high, you might just have an defective machine, on a german board there is a guy who got TWO defective M3438Gs, both with a different problem.

He tells about it here, first post on the page made by Borkar: http://translate.google.com/translat...language_tools
(babelfish translated link)

Here's the post in original state, german : http://www.amilo-forum.de/topic,2912...elt.html#19190

I have personally now gotten a bit worried after reading it, as my machine had these weird things going on as well in the start... high temps, so high that I think they would have probably gone over the limits he gives on the post if I had done what he suggests...

Should really try doing what he says.

It is just a REAL shame that there is this HUGE Amilo forum there, but only in german...

i'm back

tell me which programs should i use to report temperatures and exact conditions to report?
Here is a thread for the purpose of reporting the temperatures you have gotten with your M3438/M4438G: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=102091

Most of the posts there are a bit old, but you can see what kind of temps other owners have and some programs for monitoring the temps are mentioned. I'd suggest that you read through it, should give you some ideas where to start.

Just post some temperatures and tell what was the situation where you got them, that will get us started.

I succeed to reduse the temperatures of my proc and video card by 5-10 degree very easy. All you have to do is to remove the cooler, than to remove the stupied termal solution between the CPU/GPU and the cooler, then to apply some Arctic Silver thermal paste on the cpu. Wth the GPU things are a bit complicated, you have to cut a peace of copper plate 1.5sm. by 1.5 sm. by 1 mm, then apply Arctic Silver on both sides and install it between the cooler and the GPU. After this simple modifications I acheave temperatures of 58/65 degree C CPU/GPU under full load with DOOM3 for 3 hours. The old temperatures were about 65/76.

Please if you try do this, be very carefull, the copper spacer must be very flat and well polished. Do it on you own risk, there is aways possibility to damage you lappy!

sorry fot not responding quicker!

i undervolted from the start bu yhat thing about working inside well i wont do it is my first lap and i love it but if you did that you can also do some stuff about controlling the fan directly to work all the time.
I have a question there is no program to make that damn cooler to work all the time.....i wont be disturbedto work all the time or some electric stuff
what do you say.........

Yes, I had two defective M3438G. Actually I had three, when you also count my current one with the lagging issue. So DO test your notebooks! Better to find any malfunction during the first weeks than after a couple of months.

The maximum temperatures of my M3438G were:
GPU: 92°C (Everest 2.20)
GPU environment: 79°C (Everest 2.20)
HD1/HD2: 56°C (Everest 2.20)
CPU: 71°C (CHC/NHC)
And that is still ok. So even HOT is not always something you have to worry about.
Theoretically the CPU and GPU resist 100°C. They should switch off when they reach that value.

It is possible to install the nVidia driver with a modified inf file which allows overclocking for the graphics card. You don't have to overclock but in the overclock options you can also find a switch to enable "fan always on".

hello

thank you very much for your replay but are you sure that in overclocking fan will be always on because in normal way on riva tuner i applied that fan always on and nothing!
to be honest, I am not sure if it really works since I do not overclock, I do not care about the temps of my notebook (because they are normal if they are ~60°C when in normal use) and I do not want the fan to run all the time. I just saw that option and I believed that it might do what it promises.

Are there any possibilities not to touch GPUs "termal solution" but to apply arctic silver onto CPU?

Why can't I use the same GPU-cooling-rubber to cool it again? Can I put some arctic silver between it and GPU's parts?

Thanks. Jacek.
sadly i have other problem - my cooler is ALLWAYS ON

if PC is turned off completely then while booting cooler is off, but when desktop loads after some minutes cooler goes on and stays on for ever at 100% speed
if i restart PC it does not switch off

i use laptop2go.com NV drivers with all these nice settings like cooler allways on disabled i even tried to downclock gpu but no results temps are about 43 celsius and cooler is ON and CPU tem is 35 celsius

i have updated VBIOS to that xx.xx.xx.60 version and i have good perforamce in games, but when not playing coolers is buzzing all along.

any suggestions?
use the original FSC inf file when you install custom drivers
or use http://home.eplus-online.de/gaetcke/...fancontrol.reg
post #18 of 47
i used this reg file stting those lines in registry, but no go it is ON

clean install maybe could help, any thought?

or this is not a solution to consider?
what temp does you notebook have?
about 45 - 47 degrees celsius it is strange that it does not turn off cooler because with original VBIOS (before flash itdid turn off that cooler if temp was lower than 55

when i turn it competely of it turns off cooler, at boot time PC turn it ON and while system is loading it is OFF. after OS has been loaded after some seconds cooler goes ON again and stays on till i turn PC off. if i just restart - no matter it is ON

at idle i use 0.7 volts at 6x 800MHz so CPU is at 35 - 37 celsius. 6800Go is at 47 - 48 and 45 ambient

tried to provide as much info as i could.

i tried Rivatuner to torn cooler off but with no success
