Brief Overview of UXGA and SXGA+

UXGA TFT Active Matrix Display The UXGA TFT (Thin Film Transistor) display provides brilliant colors and has a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 as compared to 1024x768 resolutions of standard 14.1" and 15.0" XGA displays. Contrast ratios are 3-5 times better than STN displays. The response times are extremely fast (50ms or less) and make live motion video come to life. The brightness on these displays are 50% better than STN displays and produce crisp, sharp images that dazzle the eyes with excitement. The viewing angle is increased with better horizontal and vertical viewing. Overall viewing area is comparable to 15” XGA panels. Information content is about 240% that of XGA displays, providing crisper images and more information.

These were compared to the latest XGA panel screens not compared to each other. Enjoy and i hope this clears things up.

50ms isnt extremely fast.
50ms is extremely slow, for gaming at least.

16ms is ideal for gaming, 30ms is ok (UXGA's response)

How dose the WXGA on the 4780 17" compare to the UXGA and SXGA?

lol. I think my 233mhz P2 1024x768 max res laptop with a whopping 2mb of integrated graphics(the only laptop i have extensively used....I NEED MY 5680!) has a better response time than that.

The SXGA in my 8890 and my Samsung 193T are both 25msec response time and both have absolutely awesome colour saturation, high contrast (750:1) and wide viewing angles (170 degs H/V). I love my 8890 . And I now also love my Samsung 19" 193T DVI input SXGA .

Sheer bliss...

aussie, are those the actual specs for the 16" UXGA screen in the 8890? I've been searching all over for them to no avail. It's on my extremely short list of contenders, along with the 8790 if I can get the WUXGA screen in short order.

What UXGA specs are you looking at? The 5680's UXGA and SXGA+ are 25ms response time...

Not sure about the UXGA as I only have the specs on the SXGA (a Sharp LCD). There was some confusion as to which brand of UXGA LCD was being installed in the 8890.

I too, would like to know the response time of the 16" UXGA.
