700m - "safley remove hardware" icon stuck in system tray

It is referring to my DVD writer, which I don't have any intention of removing. Is there anyway to get this notification out of the system tray?

It's not a balloon tip, and the other option technically doesnt remove it. It's just covered by some panel which has it's own button (click here to see hidden icons).

I'm definately interested in this too, I'll keep up the searches!

The icon will remain as long as your drive is in the computer. The purpose of it is to safely remove the drive from the OS.

If you have a removable device installed then the icon is present - period.

Things like CD/DVD, memory sticks, etc., etc.

This is how I do...

Well, correct me, if I misunderstood you...

(1) RMB click on 'Start'
(2) Select 'Properties'
(3) Select 'Taskbar' tab
(4) Click 'Customize' at bottom
(5) Set the prefer behavior on specific icon in there

Is this what you were looking for?
Hope it is...
