i know its kinda off topic or not but its all gonna decide on this thred and you guy's(and gals) so should i sell my beast laptop for a portable Nv6600 go machine? im also a hardcore gamer but i can deal with medium settings, give some opnions, questions, etc.

btw: since i may off to college soon i was also thinking someone portable( i do move my laptop 2x a week, i have split parents) and also what would my lappy go for?(specs in sig, i need roughly $2,400, and i paid $3,200 for my 7700 new)

Not to sound like a troll, but Sager has a new model out (NP5720) that is more portable but also supports the new 7800 graphics card. If you are a hard core gamer as you say, you might want to look into that. Otherwise, don't really know what to tell you. Why do you want to get rid of your 7700 anyway? Too heavy?

yea see, the 5700 is actually WIDER than the 7700 beast, so i figure that still pretty honking huge, i just want something smaller AND less wide

7700
Dimensions
(W)15.6"x(D)11.7"x(H)2.1"

5700
Dimensions
(W)16.0"x(D)11.5"x(H)1.66"

5500
Dimensions
(W)14.25"x(D)10.75"x(H)1.36"

so as of now i am still leaning twords 5500 but i just kinda found out a 6600go has about half the 3dmarks of a 6800... so idk, im really stumped

Take no action.
Keep your machine.
What's a couple of inches, and pounds?
You're profs won't REQUIRE you to bring a laptop to school. (computer labs: use their sh**) and then come back to your room and use YOUR lappie.

hehe its called a USB Key..

its the cheapest way to use the uni's lab pc's then use your own laptop

and its hella light!

(did i just say hella)???

Well, you could wait until they put something more powerful in the 5500. Maybe 6 months? Guessing

Guntizzle I think you should keep it, I know you sold your old 5500 to buy the one you have now.

(btw hello again to the alienware section, since I haven't posted in here for a while)

Yeah, Gun, you do seem like a buyer's remorse-prone, twitchy impulse buyer, which is not good for someone your age. It'll only get worse as you get older unless you break the habit and learn to be satisfied with what you got. There will always be something 'better for your needs' out there, espescially in the world of computers, but sometimes you just have to say F*** it and "know when to hold 'em" and know when to walk away for a good, long time until something REALLY better for you comes along.
No offense.

yup, the new 5500 uses a GeFroce MXM, I would guess they should be putting a 7800 GTX Go MXM in a while
