call quality is the same as with most other modern 3G phones, but it mostly depends on the area and the provider. For some reason the midi files sound louder then the mp3 files (even the ones encoded at 128 kbps) on the speaker but when you put on the headphones you dont really notice the diffrence. Its actually pretty fun to have everything built in one device, i can be watching a movie and then recieve my phone calls or be playing super mario while listing to my mp3's (now encoding everything in ogg just to save more space). The sound quality on the ipod, or any other MP3 for that matter will definatly sound better (i think its becuase they have a dedicated ship for sound processing) but it dosnt bother me to much since im not an audiophil. If you want an MP3 phone they currently have the Sony Ericsson W900 and the Nokia N91 but im currently saving up for the Nokia N80 (Bluetooth 2.0, fm radio, wifi, new symbian OS, 3MP camera, 352 x 416 resolution I WANT IT !!!! )

ok i saw the nokia 6680 and 6681 and played arnd with it a bit (i mean analyzing its functions), the only prob. was tht its too big and heavy. i want the phone just to make calls and take an occasional photo. but it looked sweet. the prob. with the motorola is tht its release date is still iffy and one of the dealers said its gonna be mighty expensive even with its sub-standard features (vga camera etc etc). i really dont wanna go for a samsung or sony-erikson cause im a brand name sorta guy.

What ever happened to the camera decision? I bought the SD550 a few weeks ago and love it. It also has a lithium ion battery pack that lasts forever. I'm still waiting for it to die while I'm out shooting, but it never has. guess I wasted money on an extra battery pack..

got held back because of the holidays. camera is prob. canon a620. only thing is it uses 4 AA batteries and no charger is included. damn the nokia 6680 is huge.

I was thinking about the A620 because I love the swivel screen, but I like how small the SD550 is and how huge the screen is. Plus it has that nice bronze finish to it and it's 7.1 MP with the lithium ion battery as a double bonus (charge time is always under an hour too)

just an fyi or update. got all the 3 items. the ipod 30gb video, canon a620 and the moto slvr l7. especially proud of the moto cause had no idea when it was coming to the states. a friend of mine was stopping in dubia on the way from taiwan, and i heard dubai is a big shopping destination for rare items from all over the world. anyhoo, got an unlocked one for $250. anyone have suggestions of good ipod accesories, especially to connect to an alpine car stereo and good behind-the-ears headphones.

oh man the ipod is a frickin' mess, especially compared to my old drag & drop player. still messin arnd with it, but computer has frozen up twice. the player freezes up frequently. itunes is a hassle to use. apple lossless sounds like sh*t. headache stuff man.

Since you foolishly got an i(diot)Pod, at least use decent software to load it. WinAmp with the iPod plug in for audio and Videora for video. Or buy a Mac...
