* 2.0GHz Intel Pentium M processor 760
* 15.4" diagonal widescreen TruBrite TFT LCD display with 1280x800 resolution
* 1024MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz SDRAM
* advanced SATA 100GB hard drive
* DVD SuperMulti double-layer drive
* Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG (802.11b/g)
* Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
* six-in-one bridge media adapter
* 10/100 ethernet port
* V.92 modem port
* RGB monitor port
* three USB 2.0 ports
* IEEE 1394 DV port
* S-video output
* headphone/microphone jacks
* Windows XP Home Edition
* MS Works
* MS OneNote 2003
* InterVideo WinDVD 5
* InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 Platinum
* Sonic Solutions RecordNow! basic
* carrying case

my questions.......is it a big diff between the WXGA w/ Trubrite and the WSXGA screen?

can i add bluetooth 2.0 to this?

how bad is the intel integrated graphics card? no way to upgrade that correct?

i want to use my laptop for photoshop, editing dv vids, dvds, nternet, school, and making music

thanks!

the trubrite screen is glossy and really reflective and the other is not, it makes a big difference for brightness. and of course there is the resolution difference, i would perfer the wsxga over the wxga any time i could get it.

i dont know for sure about the bluetooth but i think it is possible. no for sure on that one from me.

the integrated card is okay for alot of people but if you want to do heavy graphics then get yourself a machine iwth a dedicated card

im looking at the toshiba site where you can customize your own m40............

if i picked the ATI® MOBILITY™ RADEON® X600 PCI-E x16 with 64MB DDR SDRAM could i later upgrade to the NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 6600 PCI-E x16 128MB SDRAM? or are laptops just not upgradeable like that..

thanks

DON'T buy computer with SHARED graphics. I did, and it hardly runs 3 year old game on medium settings (Red Faction, is the name of game).
looks like this laptop is OK, but it needs a GOOD DEDICATED graphics card, with atleast 64Mb (NOT intel graphics).
just my opinion.

Speaking specs here.

I'd say keep looking at that customizeable m40.
With the instant discount, it comes out to a nice price.

Ok heres what I'd say.

Don't go for any upgrade to the ram. Newegg has a 1GB Kingston stick for 80 bucks. Yeah, its ddr2 533 PC4200. Yeah.

Stay with the smallest HD because 5400 rpm sata is nice, but the best would be to get like an external firewire or usb 2.0 with 7200 and 250 or so gigs. I saw a maxtor external usb2.0 on newegg for like 125-150 something like that.
Ultimately you just save money for buying the better, more useful part.

Go 6600 is better than the X600, but its about 80 dollars more.
Also, you can get the WSXGA screen at 1680x1050.

And yes, you can get the bluetooth 2.0 +EDR installed for 30 bucks.

Hope that was some useful info.

Will

get the go6600 right off the top if you are going to get it, and i would recomend that you do that. sadly with anything but the ultra top end laptops you wont be able to upgrade the video card later, toshiba doesnt make a model yet where the card can be upgraded.
