Need help with drivers for 6800 in M3438g. - Page 2

I dont play games, but this is what i have done on my 3438G laptop.

I downloaded the firmware update for the 6800 and installed it, no problem.
I downloaded the International 81.94 drivers and installed no problem.
I downloaded the firmware V1.10 for the Laptop and installed that no problem.

As i dont play games, if there is a problem i cant see it? Have i done it in the right order or do i have the wrong drivers loaded?

Thanks

Help with the Bois flash, drivers and INF

I just wanted to make sure that when I installed the flash it all went as it should, because a lot of poeple have said it can be a risky business!!

When I ran the exe file, four or five times it brought up a list of commands and you could either continue or quit, so I continued through them all and on the last it returned to windows!! All good so far...

Then I tried to install the drivers before coming back to read the update to this thread and it said that they were not compatible with my hardware!!! This is when I started to worry a little.

Then I came back to this thread and saw the discussion between Kieran and RuptuReD so following the link kieran posted I re-downloaded the 8194 drivers (Think I may have not had the mobile ones to start with!!) and then the performance INF.

Then I get to the stage where I want to unzip the drivers and replace the INF.... I extract the files form 81.94_forceware_winxp2k_mobile_international.exe to a folder on the desktop... (Still awake? )
And this is where is seems to go a little pear shaped!!..

There is no file in the folder called nv4_disp.inf... where did I go wrong??

I tried downloading the drivers from the fujitsu-siemens website, as they're drivers come as a zip and I thought I may have been extracting from the wrong file but they're download page doesn't seem to be working!!

If any of you guys can shed a little light for me that'd be great!!

I think I renamed it as nvcv - the same purpose, different name.

First of all it doesn't sound like you have flashed the video bios at all. The exe file is just a program and it displays your options and how to actually do the flash. The same folder should contain a dos batch file. Double click that file to flash your video bios.

Secondly, when you search for the .inf file look for a text file. The entire folder only contains four of these. The first is called modes, the second is the nv4_disp(this is the one you must open), the third is a readme file and the fourt is called setup. When you double click the nv4_disp.inf file, a text document will appear. Open the .inf file you downloaded from laptopvideo2go, mark all the text and copy it. Then paste it over the original .inf file and save it. Now you are good to go and the driver should install without any problems.

Good luck

@Deano440:
Ok, you really seem to have the touch when it comes to getting things complicated...

Have you flashed the graphics card now? If you haven't, just extract the files from the archive somewhere and run the "nvflash.bat". Open the command prompt, change the directory to where you extracted the files and type in "nvflash.bat", hit enter. Should work nicely, it did for me.

As far as the ForceWare is concerned, heh, first you had the package meant for the desktop graphics cards but you didn't have the needed "nv4_disp.inf" to install them for a mobile card.

Then you downloaded the drivers meant for the Mobile cards, which got the support for something other than the 7800 GTX just starting from version 81.94, but as zipperi said, the .inf file that takes care of the installing there is really named "nvcv.inf" instead... so you can't find the "nv4_disp.inf" there...
But, if you would have just tried installing them without getting caught in this little detail, it would have worked.

The modified "nv4_disp.inf" is just meant for the desktop version of the drivers, so you can install them to your lappy.

Now, before you ask me whether you should install either the official Mobile version without any modifications or the desktop ones with the help of the modified "nv4_disp.inf", I must say that I don't know which choice would be the better, but however, I've heard some talk that it might still be better just to go with the modified desktop drivers.

Hopefully that removed some of the dark spots left.

Eh, why such an awkward procedure here? You don't need to mess with the text at all. Just copy the modified "nv4_disp.inf" file over the original one.

<edit> Oh, also, could some of you take a look at this thread and reply there, perhaps? : http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=120050 Thanks. </edit>
