No the Pentium M and the Pentium 4 M (Which is a VERY REAL PROCESSOR) are different. All the P4M is, is basically a P4 that can be clocked down (Has an open multiplier basically).

But if you doubt the chips existance check out the following laptops specs or just google Pentium 4 Mobile:

Gateway m500 (NOT THE m505)
ThinkPad T30
Toshiba Satellite 5205 Series
Dell Inspirion 8500

There are many more that used this chip but those should be easy to find even on eBay.

Hopefully now your friend will have the CORRECT information before he makes a mistake like that ^-^

Feel free to ask me ANY laptop questions. I have gone through over 80 different models and brands so I can tell you of many systems and there actual test performance by my actual use ^-^.

Thanks for clarifying. I probably just didn't understand my friend - I think what he probably wanted me to be sure of, is that the P4M is different than the PM, and like you said, essentially a regular P4.
