Post your 7800 Go GTX 3DMark05 scores - Page 10

same EVERYTHING. who knows! I've been having this sorta issue for awhile. So its either 3D Mark, or my card. Its hard to say.

Man that's weird. I saw an ~200 pt. boost, on average, going from 2.0->2.4; I would think that 1.73 to 2.26 would be more dramatic. Maybe you have to crank your clocks higher to see the difference? What does your card get at stock? I get ~6760.
hehehe i wish i could go higher, but im stuck at where im at. I was thinking about getting a replacement from Dell since this 1 isnt the greatest, but I know this will open up a whole can of worms, on ethics and such...

Hell, the card isn't damaged, see if Dell will exchange it. If they will, go for it. The only thing people have a problem with is those who break gear by overclocking too high and/or not knowing what they're doing. Your 7800Go GTX is in perfect working order. However, you should ask yourself if a stupid 3DMark05 score is worth all the hassle . Games play fine, right? Techinically mine isn't the best overclocker either, it totally craps out at 480MHz. Others have reached 500MHz. My score was reached at 477/1310 clocks, but I did it in a very cold room to keep everything stable

ARGH, alright, what is up with my card

clocked to 440/1250 my card can only barely make 59xx on 3dmark05.
tried lowering to 440/1200 and things only got worse.

Before i was hitting at least 7200 for 3dmark05 with the overclocking boot cd set to 440/1250. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, reapplying AS5, reflashing my video card clock frequency to original factory settings.

Currently running A05 revision with laptopv2go's latest 81.98 modded driver (not quality nor performance inf)

I'm running 3dmark05 without unloading anything from the process tree.. pretty much all my regular programs are running in the background, does this effect my 3dmark score greatly? I honestly remember attaining my old 7000+ 3dmark scores with all the regular programs running in the background, so i don't know how significant that is.

1) XG 81.98 v2.25a
2) Stock Score = 6652
3) Overclocked Score = 7308
4) OC Settings 450/1200

I'm happy here. I'm not pushing it further than where it is now.

Plenty fast for my ole' 9300

Just upgraded to 82.12 drivers from laptopvideo2go. These give a 3DMark05 score of 6881 - up from 6618 using Dell's 78.xx drivers..!!

I've not tried overclocking yet, but I may do very soon. I found a lot of extra options in the latest drivers, including clock settings. Am I right in thinking that changing these wont have any effect because the clock for the 7800GTX is BIOS-locked..?

Yes you have to overclock the 7800 through BIOS flashing it. There is a thread on the board here that explains how to do it plus an ISO image you can download that makes it super easy to overclock with it. Takes no more than about 5 seconds to do it.

Fantastic - just o/c'd from original to 430/1200 (same as desktop spec, I believe), and my 3DMark05 score leapt up to 7424...!!

GPU only got to around 73 degrees C - it idles at around 50. I reckon they're perfectly safe margins.

Nice score Ponx! btw, what driver and quality settings are you using?
1. Dell's 78.30 drivers - 6571
2. 81.95 form laptovideo2go - 6547
3. nvidia's official 81.94 divers - 6519

Looks like I'm gonna go back to Dell stock drivers

deusofhearts, try uninstalling your drivers, using driver cleaner pro to get rid of everything, and then re-installing them. Do you get any artifacts, pauses, or slowdowns during 3DMark05? If so, one of the components might be clocked too high.

Also be aware that 3DMark05 doesnt stress the video card anywhere near as much as a newer game (FEAR, NFS, etc.). Make sure you test your clocks in games before you keep them for sure

My driver is the laptopvideo2go 82.12 with performance inf. See my post further up....

....dammit!! I've just inadvertently installed some spyware - arse!

my o/c, with 81,95 nvidia normal modded inf.
2,13, ghz, 2g ram kingston, 7800 gtx 450/1200: 7463.
no artefacts in a cool room (18°C) after 4 hours of F.E.A.R at maximun settings (80°C at the end).
i think to try something like 490/1300 tomorrow.

Very nice, just make sure you take it up SLOWLY to 490. My card will not do above 480 without extra voltage, so make sure you check in 3DMark05 in between and go up only about 5MHz on the core at a time as you start pushing 475+

Alright, this is what i've tried to fix my consistent 5900 3dmarkscore :

1. reflash card to stock settings 440/1065
2. uninstall current drivers
3. restart in safe mode to run driver cleaner PRO and cleaned out old nvidia files (surprisingly I have some ATI files on there too which were cleaned)
4. Take laptop apart and do a reapplication of AS5 (this is where I think I'm getting a problem, might have something to do with me incorrectly re-seating the graphics card or something is not in place
5. re-seat card, put laptop back together, and install current drivers 81.98 from LTV2G modded INF (not performance or quality).
6. run 3dmark freeware version and score 5900 stock.
7. OC card to run at 440/1150 and card scores 6000.

temps reported in i9kfangui at 55 idle for GPU, did i apply AS5 wrong?
I'd really appreciate a guide on how to apply AS5 correctly to the 7800 go GTX. I'm currently applying to both the heatsink and the center GPU where it says NVIDIA

bump, could use some help here
I really can't imagine what's wrong... I would say the drivers are the only thing left that could be wrong but since it seems your using the same drivers as the rest of us... Don't take it personally if noone responds with a solution. Good luck!
I would have though quality settings for your driver might have been the problem, guess not. Look at your 3dmark 05 settings.

They should be:

reslolution - 1024 x 768
no AA and no AF
Texture filterng - optimal

I'm not really sure on this one as I haven't tested it but get CHC and make sure your CPU core speed is locked at max performance. I believe it should already be brought up though since the lappy uses dynamic switching. And if you already have CHC check that option and make sure you dont already have it locked.
yeah those are the settings, i wasn't able to change any settings running the freeware version of 3dmark

on a side note, i uninstalled the drivers, ran DCPro and removed the GPU card for the last time tonight to reapply AS5. Used 91% isopropyl to clean the old AS5 off. I think i used a total of less than half a grain of rice to cover the heatsink and whatever was left on the plastic wrap, i used to coat the gpu, this is pretty much the thinnest coat it has ever been. Booted up my lappy, installed latest drivers and temp for the card is idling at 68C. WOW. what did I do wrong now? anyway ran 3dmark and scored 5500 .

i think it's time to RMA the card.
