Sager NP5720-V Review - Page 2

great review Hoss. I too have ordered one of these notebooks although I got mine through Hypersonic (the CX7). The only reason I bought it there was that were offering the 80 Gig SATA 150 drive with NCQ and a $200.00 instant rebate with a no dead pixel addon cost of only $119.00. I bought the whole rig described in my signature for $2145.00 after shipping!

Be nice to see what a 2.26 oc'd 15% would do...

Anyway I think the 5720 is a fabulous machine and I'm very glad to read the wonderful stories about them. Thank you

Did Hypersonic just up their prices? I went to their site today and speced out a CX7, and even with just a gig of ram and the WXSGA screen, and $200 instant rebate I couldn't get it down to $2145...much less the dead pixel warranty.

Could you please check your BIOS/Firmware Rev. displayed during Bootscreen?
I suggest you have oc´ed through BIOS (advanced Chipset Options), didn´t you?

Because as posted I do not have this Options in my Revision

Here is my Bootscreen:

The first one who read my Posts

Thank you, mine is from www.cyber-system.de

Is there a way to backup your BIOS ?
I will write an E-Mail to Clevo and ask what BIOS Versions are around there.

Would anyone else check his Bootscreen, please.

Thx!

i'm not sure if you guys knew this, but on the N5720 there is an option under the "Touchpad Option" tab of mouse properties that fixes this. Simply check off "Disable while typing" under the "Tapping" subgroup and it makes it virtually impossible for you to move the cursor by accidentally tapping the touchpad when typing.

Hope this helps!

Thats a smoking deal, you should be proud. That's like the same price as a Ferrari 4005, or an i9300 partially stacked and I bet it would out-3dmark05 either of those sytems by like 25% or more.

Also very curious, I'm considering getting the NP5720. Should I get a 1900X1200 or a 1680x1050? Should I wish to lower the resolution, could I do so without any "blurring" results? In other words, will the resolution still be a sharp as its native resolution (1900X1200)?
And for the hard drive, I noticed that Hypersonic offers 7200rpm SATA with NCQ with 8MB cache. Are these hard drive superior to the SATA 7200rpm ones from Sager/PcTorque? Thanks a bunch!

I have version 1.02 of the BIOS and it has no overclocking options. Using BIOS Agent from http://www.esupport.com/biosagent/index.cfm

I got the following information regarding my bios.

bios type = Phoenix NoteBIOS 4.0 Release 6.1
bios date = 10/04/05
bios id = SONOMA01.86C.0052.D.0510042137

Can someone with 5720 with overclocking option in bios please report back what bios type/date/id is?

I've seen a 9890 with a 1900x1200 screen and the picture/text are quite sharp, and the desktop real estate isn't a bad thing either.

As for the HD's, I believe that they are all Hitachi Travelstar 7,200 RPM.
